Review of Bahai Temple

We read about this temple on TripAdvisor and decided to take a cab out to see it. It's not easy to reach, on top of a hill outside of city center. Our driver abandoned the regular road due to traffic and resorted to the toll road. But once there the place is incredibly serene. The design looks spacey from a distance but when you are in it, you can feel totally at peace. The Bahai people who were there did not proselytize or ask for money (in contrast to most of the churches I visited on this vacation!) It will be about a $20 cab ride plus wait time to get there, so it's a bit of an investment. If you have an interest in spirituality and a bit of extra time, this is worth including, especially if you are hiring a tour for the day and can call the shots about where to go.

High on a hill overlooking Panama City, this simple temple is dome shaped and has spectacular views and landscaping. Many people come just to feel the serenity. There are people on hand to explain about the faith and the building of the temple. You should have your shoulders covered out of respect and you can get a shawl on the way in if you do not have anything with you. Well worth the visit!

This seems to be one of the most undiscovered places in Panama City. When I was there it was with a friend of mine and our guide, the only other people around were a few gardeners.

You are able to see the Dome of the Bahia Temple from many angles in Panama City since it is sited on one of the highest hills in the city but the entrance to the Temple is unprepossessing and very easy to miss. However, once you climb to the top of the hill the Temple, and the view from the grounds, is breathtaking.

The Bahia Temple is built in a 9 sided circular shape with a dome at the top. The landscaping is very simple so as not to distract from the peacefulness and serenity that I felt when I was standing outside the Temple. You are allowed to go inside and walk around or sit and just reflect but photographs are not permitted to be taken inside the Temple. Once inside the breeze that comes in through the open gates is so cool and refreshing that I forgot how hot it was outside in the sun.

Towards the back of the Temple there is a splendid view of Panama City off in the distance with its many skyscrapers. Also, there are flower beds all around the Temple and many of them were in bloom when I was there.

A lovely visit, I'm glad it was added to the tour I took.

Close you eyes, take a deep breath. You are 730 feet above sea level and miles away from all stress and anxiety. All around you, there is only wind, serenity and a spectacular view of the city.

You many not even be a religious person but something about this place gets to you. You feel serene and at peace with the world. The curious architecture of the Baha'i Temple alone is worth the detour. Couple that with the impeccably manicured gardens, the soothing wind and the great views and you are in for a treat.

This is definitely one of Panama City's most underrated attractions.

This seems to be one of the less known wonders of Panama. The temple is amazing, and the views of the city, canal, and surrounding rainforest is awesome. I'm so glad we took the time to see it!
