“We can't stop talking about it”

Including Seguret in our tour around the South of France & deciding to stay at Patios des Vignes was definitely one of our best decisions of the trip.

Our room was beautiful & really thoughtfully put together, the facilities (self contained kitchen etc) were perfect & the pool was heaven. The property as a whole had a really nice high end luxury feel to it. Breakfast was plentiful & absolutely delicious. We loved the location - so peaceful but plenty to do (although I'd recommend you would need a car to get the best out of it). The hosts were charming, friendly and very helpful.

Meals wise - we stayed 2 nights & walked over to the b&b next door (La Bastide Bleue) on the first night for a really nice, well priced, rustic, French meal & then the second night went to a nearby winery called Domaine de Mourchon (we could have walked but we drove because we were on our way back from somewhere) which was also really nice but a bit more pricey. Seguret village itself (absolutely gorgeous - words don't do it justice) had quite a few restaurants options too - most of them with stunning views.

We would go back in a second.

We had been booked in another B&B near Seguret, which cancelled at the last moment due to a plumbing problem (on Sunday in the French countryside). We were sent to Patios des Vignes. In spite of last minute arrangements we were treated royally. Our room was flawless, breakfast was fresh, local, and varied, and they even threw together a picnic for us at the last minute - at no charge. We highly recommend it.

A great B&B just outside of Seguret. We stayed in the "Marsanne" room which was a good size, although note that it has an open bathroom which was fine but not ideal. However we really loved the semi-open kitchenette/dining/sitting area next door do our room. It was very well equiped and we made use of that when we didn't want to eat out. Our hosts clearly have an eye for style as the house and gardens have been beautilly designed to make the most of the views, and everything was stylishly decorated/furnished. The only comment I would make was it was quite a sun trap so we got quite hot by the pool in the afternoon sun! Breakfast was delicious and we particularly like the homemade jams, yoghurt and local produce.

Les Patios des Vignes occupies an enviable perch just outside the charming village of Seguret and just minutes from Sablet and Gigondas and convenient to Vaison la Romaine. The affable innkeepers designed the inn so that there are lovely views in whichever direction one looks, whether it be toward picturesque Seguret, the craggy Dentelles de Montmirail, or the perched round wine village of Sablet.

The inn has two beautiful units that are a combination of very stylish hotel room/ efficiency ( with kitchen) and also has regular (but also stylish) room accommodations. Do not think of the two efficiencies units as efficiencies though because that would sell them short. We found our unit luxurious. We stayed in "Grenache" for 3 nights and did not want to leave. The bathroom included a large beautifully tiled shower and artfully designed sink with a separate water closet through a separate doorway.

The bedroom had a large, comfortable king or queen size bed. There was also a nice loft with 2 twin beds, which we did not use other than as a storage place for our luggage. The loft has a nice half bath with shower and sink area with mirror, but no separate bath. We liked having the loft available for our luggage because it made the main floor feel like our home in Provence.

The kitchen included great, modern convection stove and oven ( we never used a convection stove and did not realize that the pot or pan had to be on the stove to get it hot--the innkeeper was happy to explain this all to us without making us feel too dumb). The kitchen is stocked with every type of pot, pan, plate, flatware, glassware, etc. that one would need to make a nice meal. Because we had been dining at gourmet restaurants for about a week, we decided to stay in on two nights and cook ourselves. We went to local grocery stores (epicuries) and markets and picked up our makings and had a lot of fun doing it. The locals were very friendly. We also visited local winemakers and brought home their wines to enjoy with dinner. Both Grenache and the other efficiency unit have beautiful, big, private terraces ( with one secton covered) which was perfect for outdoor dining. Also, Grenache had a nice island with stools that we could sit around and use as our dinner table. The innkeepers told us we could pick herbs from their herb garden and use them in our cooking.

The gardens on the inn's ground will please even the most discerning gardener, with lavender, petunias, poppies, olive trees, and grapevines, not to mention the ever present views. While the two efficiency units enjoy their own terraces, guests in the regular rooms enjoy stunning views from the terrace in front of the breakfast room and great room where those guests have breakfast. For the two efficiency units, generous breakfasts are brought to your room in a basket and for us included bread, croissants or other delicious local bakery, tasty yogurt, and preserves. The efficiency refrigerator was stocked with butter, milk, and juice. There was also a container of cereal and a really good coffee ( and I am a coffee snob) that we made in the coffee machine provided.

If this all sounds good to you, let me add that there is also a swimming pool, with chaise lounges, for use by guests and the pool and sunning area face a picture postcard view of the Dentelles. It was a little cool for the pool when we visited but sunny enough so that one could enjoy the sunning area. In the summer months, I could just picture myself sitting by the pool with a cool glass of local rose'.

For two couples travelling together, reserving both Grenache and the other efficiency unit would be ideal because they are semi-connected but private at the same time and each couple could take turns visiting each other's terraces for drinks and dinner.

If you are a hiker or tramper like we are, you are certain to enjoy the many hiking trails and routes in the area. If you are a wine lover, the inn sits in the midst of some of the finest Cote du Rhone wine appelations and villages. We visited Seguret, Sablet, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, and Cairanne while staying at Patios des Vignes. The region is very friendly to wine touring and we found the winemakers and vineyards more accessible than any part of France we have visited.

I recommend Patios de Vignes with enthusiasm.

Room Tip: Couples travelling together should each reserve on of the efficiency units.
