“Perfect French holiday! The most blissful place to stay”
Reviewed July 11, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We had a truly special holiday and La Ferme de Tabary was the perfect place to stay. The house is spacious, beautifully decorated with large comfortable rooms and everything you could need in a self-catering holiday house, with our own garden and BBQ area. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly and provided great suggestions of what to do in the local area. The house is set in beautiful rural France, quiet and peaceful yet also in easy walking distance to the very pretty market town of Exideuil, with restaurants, patisserie and a brilliant local market on Thursday. This is a great place for kids, with lots of space to safely roam and a lovely swimming pool to help cool off in. We also enjoyed a day kayaking in the local area and lots of delicious French food. I cannot recommend this place enough for a peaceful and comfortable holiday surrounded by nature suitable for all the family.

“Great location; spacious accommodation and excellent value.”
Reviewed April 25, 2016 for a stay in February 2016

The farmhouse was well equipped and we felt at home from the moment we arrived. The rooms were a good size, so lots of space and the beds were really comfortable. The owners were very friendly and helpful, even offering to fence off the garden to stop our dog straying.
We very much enjoyed our time there, as did Winnie, our dog!

“Nice House, Excellent location”
Reviewed December 28, 2015 for a stay in November 2015

We enjoyed our stay in La Ferme. Central Heating antiquated but plenty of wood available to supplement. Comfortable and easy to accommodate our dog. Well equiped. It's strength is it's location - an easy walk to shops, cafes and supermarkets and to a splendid variety of country walks (and for pet owners, access to vets!). A seven to eight hour drive from/to St Malo which was hard work with only a portion along the auroroute.

“Rural and quiet farmhouse”
Reviewed August 10, 2015 for a stay in July 2015

If you are looking for space, peach and quiet and a rural setting, this is the place. There are 3 houses for rent of varying sizes and layout. The owners live onsite too. There's a huge barn and a lovely swimming pool. The farmhouses are basic but have all the essentials. We travelled with children and they could all run around freely without feeling like they were disturbing anyone. There's a big supermarket nearby which covers all your essentials. There's a cute village up the road with your local bakery and pharmacy etc and a couple of restaurants. I wouldn't necessarily recommend walking to it but you can although take a torch if you are coming back in the dark. We would definitely stay there again.

We have just returned from La Tabary after spending a month in the old farmhouse which was delightful. The accommodation was very spacious, homely and very well equipped and Richard and Louisa were on hand if we should need anything. The grounds were very spacious with plenty of room to walk around and we had out door table, chairs and BBQ. when we wanted it. It was wonderfully peaceful and lovely to sit outside reading and listening to the cuckoo and other birds. The town of Excideul was only a few minutes away by car with its restaurants and coffee shops. Market day is Thursday and well worth visiting as it is well spread out with lots to see and buy. I should also mention that there is a very good Super U supermarket just down the road which caters for all tastes and is even open on a Sunday morning. We travelled all around the area and there is so much to see and do it would take too long to write about. It really is an ideal spot and hopefully we will be back!!

“Lovely relaxing fortnight in Perigord”
Reviewed June 2, 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We spent a lovely fortnight in and around Tabary in March/April 2015. We stayed in the farmhouse which is really spacious and the grounds outside provided plenty of space for our little boy to run around in. There are lots of good footpaths around Tabary which are accessible from the farmhouse and Excideuil is just a short 10-15 minute walk along one of these. We managed to patch up a couple of the mountain bikes for a few runs along the local paths while we were there which was fun (there is a baby bike seat too) although we'd suggest hiring bikes if you're looking to do longer rides on the road.

Excideuil is a quiet village and ideal for all basics - nice artisan boulangerie and a couple of decent patisseries. There are also a couple of nice cafes - cafe kitsh is a good place to relax with a book. We also enjoyed the food at Le Rustic on a couple of nights (excellent burgers. foie gras and Modelo beer on tap!) although it was quiet mid-week so perhaps better to head there at the weekend for more atmosphere. The weekly market was good too and the Super-U supermarket was pretty convenient for all essentials.

Richard and Luisa were really good hosts and it was useful to have them on site for local knowledge and tips on places to go etc. They provided us with anything we needed including a travel cot instead of the wooden cot which our little one found a bit too squeaky for a good night's sleep!

Around Excideuil we really enjoyed our day trips to Brantôme, Sarlat, Hautefort and a trip further south to Castelnaud, Beynac and Domme. We hired a car and all of these were within 30-90 mins drive.

Would be happy to recommend Tabary to a large family with young children although we'd recommend hiring a car for touring around. Diolch yn fawr/Merci beaucoup!

“Relaxing fortnight in a beautiful setting”

We hired the three houses at Domaine de Tabary for two weeks for a group of 11 friends and family ranging from 9 to 54 years old. Taking the three houses worked really well, giving great communal areas for cooking and eating (including large outside tables) with separate living spaces also appreciated from time to time. The accommodation is charming, and attractively furnished. We made lots of use of the table tennis barn (great for rainy days)and the badminton nets, and the pool was easily big enough for games and diving - and refreshing on hot days. Richard and Luisa are excellent hosts/neighbours, never intrusive, but always available with information and guidance if required. Excideuil is lovely, and we might have spent more time in town, but the splendid food and drink we bought at Super U (5 minutes away) kept us happily cooking and barbecuing at the Domaine. Various people enjoyed excursions to Perigueux and Brantome - there's no shortage of sites to visit , but it's very easy to slip into delightful laziness at the Domaine. Canoeing nearby was worth the effort though!
