“What a fabulous location, accommodation and hosts!!”
Reviewed August 19, 2017 for a stay in August 2017

All the houses are beautifully presented in this idyllic little estate. The swimming pool is large and set back from the main houses though a beautiful wildflower meadow. The Copelands were delightful hosts who were extremely kind and helpful at all times. We stayed in La Petit Maison which was ample in size for our family of 4. A larger family stayed in the farmhouse which was both sizeable and the massive garden out the back allowed us all to congregate and run around!

“Great accommodation in a lovely setting”
Reviewed August 14, 2017 for a stay in July 2017

Slightly off-the-beaten track near the more touristy bits of the Dordogne. Walks from the doorstep, a lovely village with cafes and a good restaurant within walking distance, and a large supermarket close by. Well-equipped house, great swimming pool.

What more could you ask for?

“Relaxing location creating the perfect backdrop for a family holiday”
Reviewed August 27, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

La Petite Maison was well appointed, clean and tidy with all the facilities required for a comfortable, relaxing stay. The house itself has been beautifully restored, retaining many original features. Set within a courtyard layout, the pool is positioned to the rear of the buildings, which was large and complete with diving board which for our teenage children provided hours of fun.
The location has the benefit of being just a short walk to the nearest supermarket, yet positioned so as to feel completely alone, ideal if you want to get away from it all for a week or 2. There's a huge selection of things to do within close proximity, and with 3 older children to entertain, this included river canoeing and tree top adventuring. Add to this an assortment of beautiful Towns and villages coupled with spectacular chateaux, it caters for all. All in all a lovely holiday retreat.

“Charming cottage in idyllic setting!”
Reviewed August 11, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Our family enjoyed every minute of our stay. Just walking distance from the picturesque market village of Excideuil and a short drive from popular chateaus, gardens, trails, boating, and caves, the location is perfect! There's so much to do, but you may feel drawn to spend all your time lounging in the beautiful garden or by the pool. Tabary is especially magical in the early evening hours when everything seems golden! La Petite Maison had everything we needed for cooking meals and a good night's rest. Richard and Luisa took very good care of us! They're full of practical advice and eager to help out if you need anything. We all can't wait to go back!

“Awesome location and property, lovely hosts”
Reviewed May 30, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

My wife and I (along with our venerable Beagle) had the privilege of staying in Petite Maison for six months this last winter. We loved the location, only a short walk to Excideuil past the chateau and with supermarkets also walking distance. Lots of great walking trails in the area too. The house itself had everything we could need, was lovely and spacious and full of character. Best of all were our lovely hosts, Richard and Luisa, always helpful to us, particularly as we were trying to settle in France and had lots of questions. And of course, the friendly Fenzi, master of the Domaine and very hospitable to our beagle :-)

“Excellent relaxed base for exploring the Perigord”
Reviewed August 28, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Great location. Richard and Luisa were charming hosts and, despite a roof-ripping hailstorm before we arrived, they had everything repaired and serviceable for our arrival. Superb pool and lovely cottage. Easy to get to Rouffiac (20 min:quiet and immaculate lakeside beach); Brantome (40min: beautiful 'island' town with historical abbey); Hautefort (15 min:castle); and Pompadour (45 min: castle, horse-racing and show-jumping). Only thing stopping five stars was an uncomfortable double bed (fitted sheet & protector too big for mattress) and sparse kitchen equipment (no grill pan, saucepan lids etc). But that's being picky and does not detract from this being a super, good-value base for a family holiday, Highly recommended.

Management Response

Thanks for a kind and helpful review. We are so sorry about the inadequate kitchen equipment - it was because of the hail storm that two gites equipment got muddled and lack of time during the changeover meant it was not checked. The moral is: always tell us if something is not right so we can correct any errors.

“Dordogne doesn't disappoint - stay here”
Reviewed September 3, 2012 for a stay in June 2012

This is a great place to stay for a month during the summer in France. There are plenty activities within reasonable driving distances that suit a range of tastes and many at little or no cost. The countryside is very pretty and there are any amount of walks through fields, forest and villages which are on well marked routes that begin from the gate or are only short distances away by car. The nearby village with weekly market is within easy walking distance as is a supermarket. Perigueux is a lovely large town with very good shopping within a half hours drive.
Lieu dit Tabbary is a welcoming authentic group of buildings on spacious grounds with private areas and a well located large swimming pool. Richard and Louise are very hospitable and have an extensive knowledge of the local area. I would love to return - maybe in the autumn next time.
