Having spent a week having good rustic Tuscan fare, thought we would try La Filandia on our last evening. The environment is very tastefully restored with a very upmarket modern feel. Unusual in this part of Tuscany. The menu is imaginative and the food beautifully presented. The taste matches the expectation too and in particular we enjoyed the great filo pastry in the dishes. the couple who run the place are obviously passionate about what they do and that shines through in all their creations with Barbara in the kitchen being obsessive about the sources of her raw ingredients - always a good sign. Unfortunately the slicing machine broke down just before we ordered the carpaccio of Chianina so she had to cut it by hand which left it a bit chewy, but her personal apology was gracious and goes to show that it's how you deal with mistakes that is important rather than being perfect. A lovely evening. Thanks.
