I travelled there in Jan 2014 without realizing that it's not the best season, which is during summer months from Jun - Oct. The exterior of the resort is really nice and rustic. This is a family-run resort, like many resorts in the Philippines. Warm people, friendly service and food acceptable given the remote location.

However, the room could really be improved: small, cramp and the bathroom is extremely small with slow running supply of tap water. It's really basic, without extra beddings and no amenities like toothbrush, kettle and glasses. Though I'm happy there's cable TV and wifi despite the frequent brownouts, typical of many resorts which rely on generator rather than the unstable grid.

However, I have to commend the owners for making the guests feel at home (albeit noisy construction in the mornings!) and are generous with tips and suggestions about traveling in the area. Overall, it was a good stay.

Background :
Female foreign solo traveller (5D4N across Ilocos). Safety and cleanliness of paramount importance.

Location :
Secluded and at the end of a long stretch of beach passing Hannah's and Kapuluan. From the Laoag bus drop off point at Saud Beach it's another 30 to 40 mins tricycle ride (270PHP). The road leading to the hotel is not litted at night thus rather dangerous for a solo traveller. Overall, private and serene conclave away from the crowd at thr public beach.

View :
AMAZING! After the 2 hour bus ride from hell and a bumpy tricyle ride, I was secretly consoling myself that well it will only be two nights. Alas, the view which greeted me had me blown away. To your left, Dos Hermanos Island. Right, you have hills of green trees. Right in front, the bug blue waves. Waking up in the morning is just so blissful. You are awakened by the sun shining straight into the resort's compounds and the sounds of waves crashing onto the shores. It almost felt like waking up to your own private beach.

Room :
Basic establishment with minimal facilities. I was booked at Casa Santiago (queen sized bed with private bathroom). Rooms are clean as well as the bathroom. I have only two wishes but these are just personal preferences. A nice thick comforter and shower area separated from toilet (just so the whole bathroom don't get too wet).

Service :
Excellent! Family run business owned by Ms Armi and helped out by her children. Her children speaks perfect english. They do not accept credit card (hopefully in February) but Ms Armi kept reassuring me I could pay via online transfer if I run out of cash. She helped arranged my tricycle tour around Pagudpud and even bragained for me without me asking when she found out I only wanted to go to several places. The staff were very helpful and helped me set up my meals wherever I would like to have them.

Food :
Not too many varieties especially Western food. However, the best I have had throughout my whole trip. I find the taste just right (not too salty as most local Ilocano dishes).

Overall :
More than decent establishment given the quiet town of Pagudpud. Worth the value I paid for given the privacy, serenity, service and views.

Simple place but very homely. With personalized service and very close to nature, this is a great stay. Venue is private and definitely away from the hustle and bustle of the city and the daily grind. Being located in Ilocos Norte, Casa Consuelo is right in the middle different natural attractions such as the Kabigan Falls and Agua Grande, with historical such as Paoay and Batac nearby. Truly a must try.

I liked the place as it feels homey and relaxed. Clean rooms and friendly staff. The beach in front is not swimmable but you can walk 8 mins to reach the nice beach. Can say I can go back and stay in this place!

We will stay here again, in a heartbeat. :) That's how we appreciate the service given by Casa Consuelo. Located at the end of the road, this site is ideal for beach bums and those who like serene and quiet places with great sceneries to photograph. We like this kind of vibe in our travels, and Casa Consuelo made it possible. The rooms are clean, and their Pinakbet with Bagnet is one of our favorites! Their cook is amazing, which we learned is home-cooked. :) For first-timers to taste bagnet, it was a great experience to make us say "wow" in every bite.

The owners were very accommodating too. They were so hands-on with welcoming their guest and that is a plus for the personalized service. I had a request to fix the setup of the room and have a "happy birthday" surprise for my bf's birthday, and my bf was very surprised and he appreciated it very much. Thank you Chad and Ms. Armi!

Don't expect accessibility to the beach esp during Amihan season, so we walked to the Blue Lagoon Cove instead, but that was okay for us. We were able to photograph on our way to the beach. Walking isn't that bad. :)

One thing to improve on is the accessibility of their waiters. It's hard to ask for an extra rice without disturbing Chad. Haha!

**Check weather updates before going here. There are times that you'll not get decent sunrise/sunset photos, but that is if you are interested to get great sunrise photos. :)

First of all I had the best vacation ever. After leaving the US on this adventure you just never know exactly how a place is really going to be until you arrive. After 18 hours of flight and travel from Seattle I was very pleasantly surprised. Staff was welcoming and kind, the rooms were clean and very accommodating with the AC running and bottled water chilled not a detail was missed.
The resort was spotless and the fresh fish and dishes at the restaurant were delicious and affordable. I mean you could feed a family of four a great meal for 780 pesos or so with everything.
The beach was excellent for snorkeling and sandy white beach was just a 4 minute ride.
We stayed for 5 nights and the only complaint I had was that we couldn't stay longer. We will be back in a year or 2. Wish the flights form the US were more affordable. This place is a must stay in the Philippines! Made our 2013 vacation one of the best.

If you want to go rustic real beach bum feel then this is the place. They offer a couple of rooms that may suit your budget. The owner Chad Tamayo is very 'hands on' on this business. Staffs are great and very friendly. No swimming pools here yet, and their beachfront is a bit stoney. But the view is awesome, you can walk to 'dos hermanas' when its low tide and see the locals gather 'tabong'. Food is great and doensnt cost much.
