From pulling into the parking lot, I could tell right away that this was not anything like the typical hotels we had stayed in while visiting Italy. The "resort compound" was a bit more 'upper crust', if you will. The lobby is lavished with beautiful artwork adorning the walls and furniture that was more likely to be found in a king's palace than a hotel. The staff was friendly at check-in. When my buddy and I arrived to our room, we discovered they had given us a room with a single king bed. We called them to request a room with two separate double beds; they obliged without any problem. This was one of the rare hotels in Italy where the WiFi was free, and we certainly appreciated that perk. The room was immaculate, with yet even more paintings hanging from the walls and a sauna that looked mighty impressive. The included breakfast buffet was the best I had over the course of my trip through the country; noticeably fresh foods including fruits, made to order omelettes, eggs and sausages. The dining area was magnificent as well. This will definitely be a place I come back to should I find myself in Florence again.
The only drawback is the location. It is not centrally located within the city; and finding parking within Florence is another challenge altogether. So we were relegated to taking a taxi into the city from the hotel, which ran approximately 20 euros.
