“A hidden jewel of haute local cuisine”
Reviewed January 4, 2014

This restaurant was recommended for to us for its excellent local food and intimate atmosphere. When we arrived we were greeted by the owner who is behind the pots. The restaurant is small (only 5 tables) and we were able to sit outside on the terrace near to a fountain. The food is exquisite, one of the appetizers was a little peach, the cheeses were all matured to the right age. We had a pasta dish which was delicious. The owner recommended us an excellent wine made on the northern slopes of the Etna made of the local grape variety Nerello Mascalese, Terre di Trente, 2008. It was a perfect compliment to the pasta dish. We will certainly return.

“Lovely warm welcome and delicious cooking”
Reviewed October 30, 2013 via mobile

We came here for dinner and we're very glad we did - being in the low season, the restaurant was quiet but it didn't matter as the waitress and chef were just lovely - chatting away to us and letting us try out our not very good Italian on them. We ordered antipasti which consisted of lots of different little courses one after another, they just kept coming! - vegetables, cheese, fish, meat. Delicious. Then two big plates of pasta - linguine with truffle, and paccheri with sausage. Both delicious.
Recommended!

“Worst meal in Italy”
Reviewed October 27, 2013

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel. When we walked in, we were excited because there were just 5 tables and we thought it would be like getting a nice home cooked meal. What a disappointment! The bread was stale. Our anti pasta plate was small and had some nice cheeses but one cherry tomato cut in half and a few bits of sun dried tomato. My pasta dish was in edible (too much salt). You know you have to worry a bit when you don't hear much cooking in the kitchen but you do hear a microwave. My husband's food was also too salty but he managed to eat it. They even had the gall to charge us for the pasta even though we sent it back not eaten. Eat somewhere else and you will be better off.

“Simply lovely”
Reviewed September 14, 2013

This restaurant was recommended by the owner of our hotel who is a foodie. We had a very warm welcome from the owners. Signora took care of front of house and Signore of the kitchen. They are very happy warm people who seem to enjoy what they do and this makes the atmosphere special for the customers.
We ate outside under the pergola. It was a pretty setting with lots of plants and terra cotta ornaments and pots. Everywhere you looked there were interesting objects. The place was spotlessly clean and obviously cherished by the owners. Nice tablecloths and napkins.
We were not very hungry, so we chose a mushroom risotto. It was a generous portion. This is something we cook at home often, as we have suitable rice and fungi where we live. It was superb, the rice just with a little bit of bite in it, the flavours of vegetable stock so fresh and tasty and the perfectly cooked mushrooms. If only we could have eaten other things! Excellent Illy coffee, our favourite.

The quality of the food and the skill of cooking is outstanding. The host is very warm and welcoming. The most 'honest' and delicious food in a long time.
