We spent two nights here as part of an Outer Hebrides trip and booked it on the basis that it would be a touch of luxury. It didn't disappoint. We were in one of the rooms in the new part of the hotel which had a good view down to the loch (although why the owners had let the sycamores grow to obscure some of the view, we're not sure). The room was well appointed and comfortable, the food in the restaurant was very good indeed and the service excellent. The day we had there was dreary weather-wise, but we had no problem relaxing in the comfort of our room, and in the bar we had the choice of sitting by a fire or in the conservatory looking out towards the loch. We would definitely go again if we are in the area. Unfortunately, we've now discovered South Harris, so future Hebridean holidays are likely to centre around here

I've eaten at restaurants throughout Scotland and the food on offer here is as good as anything that I've had in a Michelin 1 star restaurant. Great service both in the restaurant and hotel. Good location. Giod rooms. I really have nothing bad to say about this place, it's an absolute gem.

We arrived, soaking wet at 12.30 but our room wasn't ready so had lunch in the bar. The food was ok but overpriced. Staff were pleasant but verging on chaos. We were shown to our room which is in a building that looks like an industrial unit but once inside is very comfortable with good views from the room. Our evening meal was very good the first night but on the second night the service was shambolic. We ordered and then waited 45 minutes with nothing happening, no wine, bread or water. Eventually our food arrived but we had to remind them about the wine, and remind them twice about bread and water. The food was very good but the meal was spoilt by the poor service. It's a nice hotel but with ideas that it is better than it is, and certainly not worth the price.

We stayed here for three nights from 14th May 2014.
We were pleased with our meals (My partner is a caterer and this is not always so!) but we were very disappointed with our room. We were in room 6 - the only one available when we booked. It is exceptionally small and very dark. I understand that other rooms are better. Nevertheless it did effect our enjoyment of the stay and we thought £110 per night was a lot to pay for such a poor room

Room Tip: Check the room size before booking and avoid room 6!

Although it is in a remote location, this country house hotel is a well run, warm and friendly place to stay. As a bonus you don't need to go out to eat as the bar/restaurant offers food of a very high standard using local ingredients. It is popular with non residents so booking is recommended. The Lodge consists of an original cream painted old house - a former hunting lodge and some new build extensions which house many of the rooms. The view from the dining room is stunning, looking beyond the garden down to a loch and beyond that a mountain. A gentle walk from the Lodge takes you down to the loch and a little further on to an ancient stone circle. Our room (7) was comfortable, spacious and well equipped for disabled visitors. The staff were all excellent. If you plan a trip to North Uist look no further than this.
