Every time Langass Lodge was mentioned there was a sharp intake of breath and the word expensive was used. In our experience this is far from the truth, it is a little bit more than we had been paying on the islands but they do offer a lot more than chicken curry, beef curry and chilli con carne on their menu!
We found the staff to be extremely helpful and welcoming, something lacking in some of the establishments we visited on the islands. Who cares that there was a delay in printing the menus as the atmosphere was something to be savoured. The amusing incident with the waitress asking us what we wanted to eat before we had seen the menus was enjoyed by more than us in the bar and only helped make the atmosphere better.
I had Cockle Fritters as a starter and Lemon Sole as a main, my husband had Deep Fried Squid as a starter and a Lamb Shank as a main, everything was excellently cooked and came with a bowl of well seasoned scumptious chips. We were so full a dessert was out of the question.
We have to say that this was the best culinary experience we had while travelling the islands.
