Myself and my fiance spent a perfect four days staying with Jac at Bagh Alluin. Jac is the ultimate host and made us feel like we were guests in him home rather than just customers.

The room we stayed in (ground floor) was probabaly the largest room I have ever stayed in in a B+B, with fantastic views. It was very comfortable and had a great shower. Breakfast is what I would call a "proper" continental breakfasat with a great choice of breads, meats and cheeses along with fruit, cereal, jams and yoghurt. Jac will offer to make a cooked breakfast if you want it but we never felt the need, what he provided was excellent and we enjoyed the change from standard the standard b+b offering.

Throughout our stay there were lots of occassions where Jac did little things that just helped to make our trip more special, like giving us a life to the beach on the first evening, lending us a maps and recommending a great walk, booking us a table at the Temple View for a meal and just generally being friendly and welcoming.

We cycle toured the Outer Hebrides, staying at various B & Bs & hotels on the way. Bagh Alluin was one of the highlights, gorgeous house, great host, fantastic views and a very comfy bed. Bliss! Stay there, you will love it....

Really enjoyed my stay at Bagh Alluin. Very spacious room with great views, huge bed, big bath, loads of hot water, lots of interesting things dotted about which Jac has found on the nearby beaches and some great paintings to enjoy too. Overall I found this a very relaxing place. Well worth the money.

This location takes some beating with the moorland and the water, the hills and the beaches. The place is wild and bleak and strangely beautiful. However, North Uist for us will always be remembered for the warmth and hospitality of the Dutch; Jac, an artist, opened up his beautiful house to us and made us feel relaxed, cosy and at home. We had both rooms. The upstairs one has a huge bed and views on 3 sides to the sea and the hills. We managed an afternoon nap and a good night's sleep. The children, meanwhile, were being treated like royalty downstairs - offered crisps and fruit juice and given ithem ideas about being looked after at home. My son, who loves the finer things in life, pronounced it excellent and we all agreed. The house is Scandinavia-cool, very warm but painted white and empty of clutter except for Jac's amazing paintings. We have grown tired of doily-decked B&Bs with nylon sheets and weird collections of rubbish everywhere. This place is at the other e d of the scale.

And then came breakfast: fresh juice, fruit salad, freshly baked rolls, yoghurt and some Dutch specialities. We had expected something light but we at loads and barely even managed to dent the ham, cheese and other items on display. Jac also makes excellent coffee, something often missing in the more remote corners of Britain.

We loved this place and would recommend it to families with older children (the rooms are on different floors) as you can be apart and yet the house is yours. There are TVs and DVDs in the rooms and, always, always, wherever you look - the views and the warmth of the welcome.

It was only the lure of home after a long trip that meant we left at all. Highly recommended.

Who says the Hebrides get bad weather, at the moment it looks like the only dry place in Scotland!

The drive over the causeway towards Bagh Alluin is breath taking, I would never tire of it.

The house is new and well designed, and I bet most visitors leave with thoughts in their head on how to design their next home. I had the double upstairs room. Windows on each wall make it light and the room is large room enough to act as a bedsit.

Liked the set up of all guests sitting at the same very large table for breakfast.

A little more expensive than most but for a few days it's worth it to chill out and not worry about what the accommodation, breakfast etc is going to be like.

Was able to get early 6am breakfast, what I couldn't finish was packed for the ferry, thanks.

We spent 4 nights at Bagh Alluin in May and experienced all 4 seasons in terms of the weather, but as a host Jac was constant in his warmth! The upstairs bedroom looks west towards the Monach Isles and was great for bird and weather watching. Jac's breakfasts are definitely good for you and a refreshing change after the usual heavy British fry ups. The landscape is reflected in Jac's artwork which fills the house, and the nearby beach (only 20 minutes on foot, so leave the car behind!) is enough to inspire any budding artist.

Having visited the islands before and having read the previous reviews for this B&B, I had high expectations. I was definitely not disappointed! This is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful islands & Jac is a fantastic host. Wonderful large and light bedroom with private bathroom. Delicious breakfast. Gorgeous setting - only short drive to stunning beach. Just fantastic! For anyone wanting to relax and enjoy complete peace & tranquility, you won't do better than this. A word of warning though - it WILL make you want to leave the city & pack in your job!!
