“Culla Cottage, Benbecula”
Reviewed September 25, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Just back from a refreshing and relaxing week at Culla Cottage. The owners, Donald and Sheena, were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. Donald has done a marvellous job of renovating his father's childhood home into a traditional cottage but now with all the mod cons. It is tastefully decorated and extremely cosy. It is close to many amenities, including a well stocked supermarket, yet in a very quiet location.
A highlight is Cula beach a stone's throw away. We were the only ones on it each day and it felt like our own personal beach. Our dog was in heaven!
The central location made it a perfect base to explore. Eriskay and Berneray both have breathtaking beaches. Another beach worthy of mention is Clachan Sands.
We also packed in a great day trip to Harris.
We ate out at Langass Lodge and Westford Inn, which were both very good, but it was hard to tear ourselves away from the cottage in the evening.
Wishing Donald and Sheena every success. Their hard work in making the cottage an ideal holiday destination is clear to see.

“A step back in time, that made two nights feel like a week”
Reviewed August 14, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Booked very last minute as a couple of nights away for the family, and it was truly fantastic. The owner Donald did all that he could to ensure our stay was everything the pictures indicted it would be and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, the cottage was ready and equipped with all the modern facilities you would expect in a holiday cottage, but set in a home that had been tastefully and painstakingly renovated to ensure that it had not lost any of the originality of a 'blackhouse'.
The beach within walking distance was great for a quick BBQ and having it all to ourselves added to the serenity of our break.
Can't wait to get the opportunity to return.

“Lovely renovated historic cottage, perfect for self-catering”

We were the lucky ones to be the first guests in this beautiful authentic cottage - really enjoyed the great hospitality and enthusiasm of our host. It is astonishing how Donald, the owner, rebuilt and modernized his grandparents' house. Just in time to our arrival he managed to get everything done: How cosy it is to relax after a long travel with a glass of wine in front of the small oven burning real peat. The cottage has the perfect size for a couple of two but can host up to 4 people. The kitchen is generously equipped, and the wooden furniture is carefully selected to fit into the authentic ambiance. During the whole year you will enjoy a pleasant climate inside - no wonder: just imagine one meter thick outer walls! The location itself is a perfect starting point to enjoy nature (Cornkrakes! Eriskay ponies!) and to enjoy the nearby pure white beach. Or why not just grab the deckchairs and dream along into the sunset... enough said, it is almost sure that we will return one day and we wish Donald many lovely guests until then! Arn&Frank
