“Pozos Azules, ya, worth an afternoon.”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We went by horseback from a tourist shop in the main square (its cheaper if you just ask a local which way are the Pozos Azules and start walking, a few minutes later you will see a few people renting horses much cheaper) Contrary to what some of these other reviewers are saying it doesnt seem like a great hike, there are much much better hikes in town, like a hike to a lagoon at the top of a mountain close by. Ask around. Anyway the pools are worth a look, they are very pretty surrounded in mountain scenery and the water colour (ya we spell color* that way in canada eh) is all its said to be...blue'ish. Theres somebody there to take a few dollars off you if you want to go IN the water and another with a cooler incase you want a beer or soda, other than that its pretty much empty. So as much as i liked it and i would recommend checking out the Pozos Azules i wouldnt plan your entire day around it, even the most self-entertaining person will get bored after an hour there. As a great fictional Gump once said "and that is all i have to say about that"

“Beautifull hike”
Reviewed August 25, 2012

Loved it. Very unique hike around some natural pools formed in a dessertical area. The water is so pure and the color is somewhere between green and blue. Very close to the town. Around 10 minutes.

“Pozos Azules- Fun, pretty, Freezing water”
Reviewed June 7, 2012

The view was incredible, part of a horseback ride to Fosil, and other area attractions. Water was freezing but worth a quick stop.

“Man made ponds with a blue-ish tint”
Reviewed March 27, 2012

This site was not really what I expected. There are several man-made ponds dug out in a fairly large area. The water is slightly blue, thanks to the various minerals in the soil. The best part of this was the amazing view all around the countryside and the desert-like plants and scenery. That was beautiful! This is part of the Villa de Leyva sites tour, so most people who go on it will visit here. Spend a few minutes taking pictures of rocks & plants.
