We appreciated Marlen's warm welcome, special coffee delivered to our room in the morning, and the ability to choose from a few rooms during a heavily booked mid-week. Our room at the back was comfortable and we had a good sleep and a nice hot shower. Fortunately, the guests who had booked most of the non-family rooms were scientists busy with a conference, because I agree that thin walls and doors and windows do not keep out normal noise such as conversation, doors opening and closing, knocking on doors, and even the sounds of neighbors getting ready for sleep etc. That mostly ended at 10 pm, so our sleep was fine, but over the weekends I imagine that comings and goings late at night might disturb. The discounted price seemed fair.

Room Tip: Do ask for upstairs rear courtyard rooms if you don't want street noise, because this hotel is on one of the entrance roads. Look around if you can to choose a room by itself, as you may hear your neighbors. On weekends it might be good to try to stay away from the large family rooms.

We stayed only 1 night with our 10-year kid in one of their biggest room (suite): attentive and very responsive couple run the place with a lot of attention. Room at the rear from the street means quite room, direct access to secure car park and colonial style up to the details!.. Would go back without hesitation - and their deserve it.

Room Tip: The Suite is great for familly with a child - extra bed can be provided

We stayed in a standard double room for 3 nights midweek. Clean room and bathroom, good hot water pressure. Standard double not huge but easily big enough for the 2 of us. Really quiet at night as was on the rear courtyard.

The family who run the place are very hospitable, really want you to enjoy your stay.

My only suggestion for the owners would be to start offering breakfast, although within a very short walk there are a dozen breakfast choices so this wasn't a major problem.

Villa de Leyva is very quiet midweek so there were few others staying, plenty of choice of rooms. Some of the rooms on the ground floor get not much light so if this is important to you, make sure you specify when booking.

Room Tip: There are many options so ask to see the range

Stayed here three nights in the suite. It’s a great location right next to the main plaza in a very charming building. The owners are incredible hands on, and the staff is very attentive.

The drawback is that it can be noisy on the weekends as the walls are not very thick, and light will come in through the thin blinds. I’d guess that most of the old buildings also have thin walls, so if you want total quiet on a weekend, I’d stay outside of town. Also, it is a small-town hotel, and so you don’t see the high-end touches you might see elsewhere. For instance, the suite, although it had a very TV, it had basic soap and shampoo, and for us personally the larger TV wasn’t as nice as better soap and shampoo would have been.

We decided to stay at this hotel following Tripadvisor rating. We stayed here for four nights with my young adult kids and two of their friends. The hotel is centrally located just two blocks from the main plaza and surrounded by restaurants and stores. The hotel is a colonial house with rooms of different sizes, the largest accommodating up to seven people. The rooms are very clean as are the bathrooms. There is no restaurant in the building but there are several options within walking distance. There's free parking included with the room rate which is a good value for the location. The hotels staff is very friendly. The area is extremely safe. We had no problems at all with our young adults staying up until very late partying. Would definitely consider going back here when I return

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms near the staircase
