This charming, very attractive hotel is a pleasure in many ways. Great central location just off the main square,we booked a suite which had huge bed, a pretty balcony overlooking a little square, lots of light, pretty decor. There was free internet (though it sadly didn't reach to our bedroom) and nice breakfasts, a library/pool room... all very boutique hotel-ish.

The main cons for me were that other than the owner nobody spoke any English at all, and the street noise woke me up very early every day - this old building has minimal sound insulation.

NB We got stuck there during the protests and were surprised nobody explained or updated us on the situation (we had no idea, didn't know if we were in danger, etc) til we found out while trying to leave and explicitly asked. Even then we couldn't get updates from them - they mainly just told us to watch the news, despite our Spanish being weak. The owner was very kind to give us a room discount when we were stuck, but other than proposing to commission an expensive helicopter, the hotel was generally unhelpful in helping us to get back to Bogota, telling us it was impossible - til at the last minute the very nice night watchman called round drivers til he found one who would take us and thus saved the day.

Nobody in Colombia expected to have the protests, much less how long they lasted. Therefor the hotel staff tried their very best to help all the guest solve their problems as the protests continued. We are sorry for any inconvenient that you had

It was an old colonial hacienda house converted into a boutique hotel. I am very impressed by their interior deco,
Lots of antiques furniture, decorations, details,a courtyard in the middle of the house full of exotic charm.
The downside was the reception staffs couldn't speak english, however, they are very attentive and helpful.
The hotel was located just on the corner of the main square, a bit noisy if your room is near the street.but very convenience to go anywhere.
The double room and bath room size is a bit small anyhow it was a converted hotel.
I am sure I will return next time .

We spent 3 nights here. After the initial charm wore off (the hotel is beautifully decorated and looks like a house from the 17th century) we came to realise the hotel is not very practical. We had a family room but the noise from the restaurant from across the inner courtyard kept us up at night. The door are ricketly and do not close well. The hard pillows gave us both a pain in the neck. The staff are friendly and the breakfast buffet is good if not copious.. They have off street parking on the next street. Very centrally located in old Villa de Leyva...but not worth the price.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms facing the restaurant

My wife and I spent a night here in Jun '13 for a romantic getaway; I'm so glad we chose this hotel. We opted for their "Plan San Antonio Romántico" option, which included: an evening carriage ride around the town at sunset (they let us choose the time) for about 30 minutes, dinner with one glass of wine a piece, rose pedals scattered amongst our room upon our return from dinner, and breakfast in the morning.

The food and service were good throughout our stay--no complaints in either of those departments. The hotel is full of charm and old world style, but that also means that things aren't perfect about the structure; for instance, the door to our room had an ever so slight crack between the door and the frame, so it was possible to see in, if you tried hard enough. We never felt like this was an issue though. The doors lock, but there is no in-room safe; however, it is possible to bring your own lock to put on the door handle to your room, if you really want to keep someone out. Just be advised that the balcony entrance is not as secure.

The hot water worked very well and there was a flat screen TV in our room with cable. The king bed in our room was nice and comfortable.

If you choose to go on the carriage ride, know in advance that the streets are comprised of large rocks, which, in turn, means that you have a bit of a bumpy carriage ride--but I think that adds to the experience.

All in all, a wonderful experience at a cute hotel in a beautifully historic town.

This is the second time we stay at this hotel and once again we had a wonderful time. We were in room 20, which is on the second floor, has a chimney and a small balcony that looks out on the square. The location is fabulous as it is only one block away from the Plaza Mayor, but you don't get all the noise from the shops there. The breakfast includes four or five options. We had the option with a ham and cheese omelette that was delicious. The service was outstanding. I would definitely return!

Room Tip: Room 20 is great if you want one with a chimney and a big (huge!) bed.
