We arrived at Achill Island shortly before dark on Halloween. Since the tourist season had ended, most of the hotels and B&Bs were closed. Fortunately we were directed to the Bervie Guesthouse which was remaining open for another week. The friendly owner, Elizabeth, took us to a cozy room in the part of the house that had once been a coast guard station. The view of the ocean from the large window was breathtaking. A short walk across the lawn and down the stairs brought us to Keel Strand where we took a long walk. Over a delicious breakfast the next morning, we decided to book the room for a second night. Elizabeth and her husband John were extremely helpful, assisting us in making telephone calls and recommending a pub for dinner. Our entire stay on beautiful Achill Island was wonderful and we will definitely return to Bervie during our next trip to Ireland.
