During our recent week long stay in Mulranney, we ventured over to Keel for dinner one evening, and ended up in this Hotel. It was 5.50pm and my wife and I were with our 2 young children. The restaurant was empty apart from one table, and upon showing us to our seats, the first thing, the waitress said to us, was that the kitchen was not open until 6. We asked if we could take our order anyway, as we did not intend staying out late with the kids. She did not show up again until 6.05. It took an hour and 10 mins to get served our main course, and throughout our meal, we were left with a very clear impression, that our business was not welcome (it could be due to the fact that we had 2 small children with us). The staff were extremely rude, the food took an age to arrive, and it was nothing to write home about.
Our kids were extremely well behaved, and caused no disruption, in fact, the couple at the table next to us complemented us on their good behaviour.
We would definitely not recommend this restaurant. Maybe if we did not have children, we would have been treated differently...who knows?

This is a nice little hotel - the perfect place to stay on Achill Island. I was visiting Ireland with my brother, and we chose to stay a few nights on Achill Island to experience a remote part of Ireland. The rooms are simple and clean. The people who run the hotel are friendly and helpful. The food in the resaurant was excellent. I would definitely stay in the Achill Cliff House Hotel again!

This is a nice hotel; a great base for exploring the beautiful & scenic Island of Achill and further surrounding areas. There were plenty of parking spaces. Our hotel room was clean and comfortable; this is a lovely peaceful location for a good night’s sleep. The hotel staff / owners were very helpful for the most part, with some of the younger waitresses being a little cold and robotic. We both thought the food was ok but did not hit the mark if assessed according to prices being charged.

We celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary on Aug 12th, & decided we really wanted to go back to Achill.
We chose this hotel because good food is very important to us,& the menu read well.- The food was good. Lots of choice, great fish & sea food, well-cooked & nicely presented.(Apart from the very unnecessary strawberry that was a garnish on the turbot!)
We pigged out on the fruits of the sea, & on Fri.night had a fillet steak. OMG what steaks!
Huge, succulent --cooked to perfection. Indescribably good, sauce on the side-- which was ignored because it wasn't needed!
And now, the down-side.
This is not an "Hotel". It's a guest house with a great restaurant! Our bedroom was spacious. there was a trouser press & ironing board, the lighting was good, the tea & coffee makings were hidden in a floor level drawer & only discovered the evening before we left!
There are no walk-in showers, though there are ground floor bedrooms, but it is not disabled friendly.
There is no bar , just a counter from where drinks are served to you at your table in the dining room. 4 small tables in reception (itself a tiny hallway & not attractive) was where we sat to finish of our excellent Wolf Blass Shiraz
The staff were great--nothing was too much trouble. Even when rushed off their feet, they had time to be courteous & pleasant.
By the way-- breakfast is equal in quality & quantity to the evening meals, & the breakfast waitress is a charmer!!

Nice rooms, reasonable prices, friendly staff and very, very good food all added up to a great stay.

Keel is the main village on Achill and the hotel is very well situated. The breakfasts were substantial and the place was very busy but the staff made time to chat. We also had a good evening meal - locally caught seafood was fresh and well prepared and the seafood chowder was excellent.

The room was substantial with a nice view of the coast to watch the ever changing weather. Just as Eskimos reputedly have numerous words for snow, so the Achill-ites have half a dozen words for rain, including my favorite "wet rain". But while we were there the showers never lasted long and the island looks magnificent whether in full sunshine or shrouded in mountain mist.

All room facilities worked well and I would go back, both to the cliff house and the island in a heartbeat.

Good room and great food during our stay; staff were very attentive and provided food off the breakfast menu for our needs! The dinners were excellent and great value, and the view from the dining room adds a lot to the experience - booking a window seat is a must! One minor issue was that you should be able to turn the radiator on whenever necessary - due to the typical Irish weather the nights were rather chilly!

We booked this hotel on a b&b deal - 99 euro per night for both not PPS. The hotel is small and has a very small bar and restaurant.

The decor of the hotel is a little old fashioned but it is extremely clean. Our room was huge and spotlessly clean, the ensuite was great.

The staff are friendly and efficient but not intrusive, this suited us as we wanted a quiet weekend away.

The views from this hotel are spectacular and Achill is such a beautiful part of the country.

The food is exceptionable, we ate all of our meals at the hotel and everything was delicious. I would definitely recommend the restaurant.

There's plenty to do with beaches and cosy pubs nearby.
