My husband & I spent several days at Stella-Maris in July of this year. We were there celebrating his sister's birthday and also to visit his father's homeland. We had a wonderful time, and Greg and Mary are very warm and friendly hosts. The room's view was to die for, it overlooked Keel Bay and the mountains. The yard has direct access to the beach. Greg and Mary could not have been more accommodating, greeting us with a bottle of wine upon arrival and giving us suggestions for dining in the area.

The breakfast at Stella-Maris was exceptional. Mary makes wonderful pancakes. If you go, you must try them.

If you are going to visit Achill, Stella-Maris is the place to stay.

This tribute could write itself.......Words have not been mined to describe the location and character of the absolutely perfect bed and breakfast home of Stella Maris.. The word Perfect is only half good enough to describe every aspect of this little gem especially the food. .
Truthfully I only rate when I do find a treasure of a rare jewel - Stella Maris -, in the beautiful, seaside resort of Keel in Achill Island is just such a jewel ,and is the home of the welcoming Mary , Greg and family. We shower praise on the charming , efficient , diligent staff.....A special treat was presented to me by Mary for my birthday Go raibh maith agat .. and "charming " could be Greg s middle name.
This spacious neo clasically decorated and finely furnished home would not be out of place in a photoshoot for "Hello " magazine.
We intended to stay one night only and then move on but when you find perfection it captivates you, so we stayed for only one week !....This B and B is situated one hundred metres from Keel beach which is just Greg s pristinely manicured lawn and a small field away .
All bedroom windows view the sea and the village amenities are within a very short walking distance of Stella Maris' secure carpark..
A sense of pure class, beauty , style , cleanliness, space, peace, serenity and tranquility, , brightness and homeliness prevails. It could be a retreat , and should be visited .. good for body , mind and soul.....Pat and Aine

Room Tip: room no. 6 is best room in the world ....

The Stella Maris B and B is a gorgeous home, beautifully furnished and impeccably decorated. However, its loveliness is far surpassed by the graciousness of its hosts, Greg and Mary, who never stop going out of their way to care for their guests. For instance, when I asked Mary for a phone number for a taxi, she said, ""don't bother,'' and drove me herself to the pub. Then, she arranged for me to get a ride back with a tour group who traveled to the pub on the tour bus. Greg wrestled with my very heavy luggage, not allowing me to touch it. And, when I left behind a drawer full of clothes, Mary dropped off my left-behind items in at a pre-arranged spot at least an hour away, where I was going to be passing through. So, I was happily reunited with my lost clothes. Thanks again for that, Mary. You are a lifesaver. Despite all this, the absolutely best thing about Stella Maris is its location. There is probably not a more beautiful spot on the planet. Just behind the lush green lawn in the yard is a spectacular beach with clear blue water. Achill Island is chock full of unspoiled beauty. I can't wait to go back.

Mary and Greg are wonderful people, but their daughter Saundra, on hoidayl herself, won us over with kindness, charm and hospitality. Supper location on Keel Beach, with back gate for evening walks on the beach. just magic FiDV

We stayed only one night at Stella Maris but it was the best night's sleep we had during our whole holiday. There is a lovely, easy-going feel to this charming B&B that makes you feel right at home the moment you walk through the door. And the breakfast is a real cut above the usual fare, with a wonderful view from the breakfast room out to the sea.

When our car broke down in the car park as we prepared to leave in the morning, everyone at Stella Maris could not have been more helpful and understanding. Huge thanks to Mary for giving us a lift to the mechanic once our car had been repaired. Irish hospitality at its best!

We stayed three nights at Stella Maris and we loved every minute. Our room on the ground floor was clean, spacious and bright with a wonderful view to the sea. The beach, the reataurants and the grocery store are within short walking distance. Mary and Greg are down-to-earth and were very helpful. In such a way that Greg prepared an extra breakfast for us early in the morning because we had to catch the 8.30-bus back to Westport (Bus stop is only some 200 metres away!). Thanks a lot for the wonderful days in your house!
