We stayed in the grand royal 2 bedroom villa for 3 nights. The villa is beautiful and the island is picturesque like most thai Islands. The staff were all lovely and friendly. However, the hotel is built on a huge mountain so you need to have a car to take you around as the hills are so steep. Then the service is terrible, the staff do not speak very good English which causes some communication issues however sometimes it's simply a lack of helpfulness. We booked mopeds one day and when we turned up to get them there were none available for us, we then asked if we could do so,etching else instead and they could not assist us at all. The food is not great and the menu every evening is a 3 course set menu not the a la carte. Everything is wildly overpriced, ie the massage on the beach is 500 bahts and the hotel is 2000 bahts and it's the same. Food is overpriced and wine is a joke, over £10 a glass.. They then add 10 percent service to everything and 7 percent tax. The island has better hotels for the money. The hotel does not offer the service or attitude sadly of a 5 star resort. Having traveled in Thailand I think there are better places to spend your money. The room maybe nice but the island has little to offer and the hotel is totally overpriced with bad service.

Dear Alihatcher,

Greetings from Santhiya Koh Yao Yai Resort & Spa – Traditional Thai-style luxury beach resort on tropical island.

We are happy to lean that you impressed our pool villa and destination.

Due to very high occupancy we are not able to take booking for moped on same day we are really sorry for a miscommunication from our team, We do have English classes for our team member to improve their English day by day to support local generation from undiscovered local island and we found they are doing very, very, good on it and terrifically improving day by day.

We offer a fresh BBQ live station to select from with Chef signature dish additionally we do offer a la carte pre-order as well depend which option you like, we are sorry that this time we didn’t inform you the full option to select from probably.

About our Spa Village it very comfort and very private with totally teak wood structure, It’s really depend on the atmosphere which would you like to obtain and the service & price will be accordingly, to maintain the safety and stop class standard we do have a service charge and Government value added tax, it happen in all over the Resorts of Thailand we are pretty sure it happen in UK too.

We promised with you in your near future trip you will find us with more option of dinning and few more restaurant at the other part of resort sea view and more activities to enjoy like water sports, daily activities and many more but this time we are really sorry that we couldn’t meet your requirement but we promise with you in your future trip to us you will find us in all sector top class perfect as we are new property and we are working on it so hardly.

Once again thank you very much to spent your valued holidays with us and looking forward to warm welcome you to our gracious hospitality once again.

Truly Yours,

Danny K Sukomol

During our time in the Thai islands, we stayed on Phuket, Ko Yao Yai and Ko Phi Phi, all very different. I'll describe Ko Yao Yai as the place to go if you're looking to get away from everything. Phuket is like Times Square, Ko Phi Phi is a good balance, depending on where you stay but Ko Yao Yai is basically untouched by tourists aside from a few resorts. While in Phuket, we asked locals about it and nobody had been there which made sense once we got there. If you're looking for a lot of activities, nightlife and overall entertainment, it's not the place for you. They have day trips every day but there are only 1-2/day. That's the only thing I'll knock them for but the rooms are so amazing (get one with your own pool, it's worth it) and the serenity makes up for it. We bumped into other guests staying there for 1-2 weeks. I couldn't stay for that long. We did three nights and were pretty satisfied. We got a Grand Pool Villa Suite and the view is outstanding, you're right on the water and the sunset is gorgeous. We spent a whole day not leaving the room, if you can call it a room, except for breakfast and dinner and it was incredibly relaxing. Food was great and reasonably priced. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. We took the wrong route from Phuket. Confirm this with the resort but I think the best port to use on Phuket is Rassada Pier. Our Phuket hotel sent us to Bang Rong Pier which sent us to Koh Yao Noi (different nearby island) and then had to take a 30 min cab ride to the resort. If you get that right, it's not that bad to get to, maybe 1.5-2 hours from the Phuket airport if you time it right. Again, not a ton going on but if you just want to zone out and have easy access to a lot of attractions (Krabi islands, James Bond island, etc), it's in a great spot.

Nice resort , beautiful villas with big B U T.
Down look behind the curtains....
If we arrived, our pool Vila was close to the construction area of a new building, which means from eight in the morning till sunset sawing, drilling, hammering, all the fruits.
Solution was change room. First the manager announced that we could stay the whole time in that room, but text morning he told as that we have to move in six days and stay the rest two / three days in an other room,....
The stuff is really friendly but completely unguided. We had some situations like waiting two and a half hour for two spoons, or order pickup service didn't come a couple of times, ordered something in the restaurant, deliverables have been wrong, asking for drink at bar, waited nearly half a hour,.... Asking the management about that answer stuffs mistake, which is wrong. The stuff is more than friendly, it's just unguided and unmanaged.
Nevertheless, it's a beautiful please. The want to be like the six sense on neighbor island, but they are miles away, sorry guys.

Everything was great! Go here if you want some really quiet and relaxing days. This hotel is situated on an island that is completely isolated from the rest of the world it feels. Was a great view from the room and everything felt really luxurious.

We got married at this wonderful destination and it really was like a dream came true. We arrived at Santhiya with high expectations, but they have been exceeded to the maximum. This resort was definitely the best hotel in which we have ever been. The whole staff was extremely friendly and helpful all the time. Our wedding ceremony was planed perfectly and it was the best decision ever to come to Santhiya to get married. The setting was so romantic, the people have all been so nice and every detail was perfectly managed. The whole crew of the resort worked hard to make our wedding day special and they did it so well. We are very, very thankful for this gift. The amazing beauty and peacefulness is overwhelming. Santhiya seems like a small part of paradise. We could not recommend anything stronger then to come here for a wonderful wedding at the beach. BEST PLACE EVER!

Room Tip: The Villas are extraordinary with their own pool and everything. The usual rooms are wonderful. The best value is offered by the rooms with sea view.
