My boyfriend and I have been staying in Southeast Asia for sometime now, I teach yoga in the Philippines and he is underway for his Dive Masters on Koh Tao, so we're plugging away doing our thing. We met up on my way to the Philippines, spent time there and I had a week to head somewhere so we decided to go back to Thailand, simply because we love it. He choose the resort as a surprise and I was to choose one on Phi Phi Island for a couple nights......well we never made it to Koh Phi Phi. :-)
We arrived into Phuket, grabbed our bags, a taxi, and headed to the pier over to an island named Koh Yao Yai. We had a private boat drop us right up to the beach (The resort does provide private speed boat and shuttle, we weren't aware and opted for a private boat anyway). When we arrived, the staff greeted us with smiles, welcoming us to their new sister resort on Yao Yai. There is another resort on Koh Phangan, and apparently this one just opened in December so very new readers. Upon arriving up to the dock or beach of the resort, you will see nice bungalows perched atop the side of the island, a fair distance to the main guest and dining area, but that's ok because they have a cool little shuttle that picks you up and drops...My boyfriend and I have been staying in Southeast Asia for sometime now, I teach yoga in the Philippines and he is underway for his Dive Masters on Koh Tao, so we're plugging away doing our thing. The view is spectacular! Walk in from a double door walk way into your very own private pool, deck overlooking Phuket. The bungalows are spacious with indoor and outdoor shower as well as a tub outside. We had paddle boards, so we took our SUP's around for a cruise when the waters were mellow. Keep in mind the resort is the only resort [from what I remember is] on Koh Yao Yai, you have to rent a scooter to Yao Noi by hopping on a quick ferry over which takes approx 10 mins. The two islands are fun and there is actually a bit more to dine, shop, 7-11 on the north island with a quick scooter ride back to the south island. It is a predominate muslim island in the south so not easy to find alcohol in the area, but there are a couple places that have it. People are friendly, obviously you can't get lost either, it's the only resort of that caliber if not the only resort on Yao Yai. Dining was exquisite with the view, and live singer/guitarist. I was so in love with the place, we cancelled the booking on Phi Phi and stayed an extra day. My boyfriend is the best! What a surprise it was.More
