“Lovely chateau in striking distance of Calais”
Reviewed January 5, 2014

We decided to break our journey home somewhere nice, not too far from Calais; and this appeared to fit the bill. And it did! We were delighted with our choice of place to stay. Quite grand, with lovely service, and very comfortable. We only had breakfast, so can't really comment on the restaurants. (Breakfast was cold buffet, eggs to order on request.)

We're now thinking of an excuse to go and have a weekend break there.

My wife and I and our children have stayed in this hotel at least 10 times and more recently 3 days ago on our way back to the UK. We have never been disappointed. The rooms are very specious, the food is excellent but more importantly the service is impeccable. We have stayed in several luxury hotels before but none comes close to this one in terms of quality of service. The owner knows what very good service means. This hotel is also very friendly for families with very young children (the rooms are so big that people without children are not disturbed). I would highly recommend this hotel.

Last stop over on a busy weekend in Holland, Belgium and France. Our executive room was large and could not be faulted. The Chateau as stated is spectacular, the food in the La Distillerie was delightful (Wild Boar) and a good wine list not to expensive. Our evening meal at Le Vasco was as stated cosy, but very disappointed that the only light red wine was a Cote Du Rhone @ €52.00. Returned to the bar in the castle for a night cap and yet again another wine list! We asked for a light smooth, we were served a Medoc @ €8.00 a glass and I am afraid we left them there! very sharp.

That said the Chateau, the grounds and the staff were great and we would definitely return (as long as the wine selection is changed!).

This was our last stop on a 26 day tour of France before heading back to CDG airport. What a wonderful stay. The staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. We ate in all three restaurants. All had exceedingly delicious food. The Chateau was beautiful with charming common rooms. The lounge was particularly inviting. This is a nice base for exploring this north area of France. If I can get back I would stay here again.

We stayed one night for a weekend with friends. Warm welcome on arrival and shown to our rooms on the first floor of the chateau hotel part of the huge estate. Room was large with long windows. Bathroom was smallish but had a great shower with side jets( no bath but we don't mind that). Room decor was a little "chintzy" for our liking - floral wall paper and bedcovers - but was in keeping with the style of the chateau. Other rooms we saw were not so floral!
We ate in the Vasco restaurant - lots of choice - high standard French cooking with a twist. Relaxed, informal and very enjoyable - not rushed but service was fine.
This is a perfect weekend retreat close to A 26 - just an hour from Calais and easy distance to Lille, Louvre-Lens etc.
Will definitely return and sample one of the other 2 restaurants which looked to be of equally high standard. Very good value overall.
Only reason I have not given 5 stars was that the room was a little chilly on arrival and took time to heat up but once it did, was very warm and cosy.

A very pretty chateau style hotel with easy access to the autoroute and Calais. Bedroom was a little bit like "Chintz gone Wild" but was very clean with a really comfy bed.

We had a gorgeous dinner in Le Robert II ,the gourmet offering, and were extremely sad not to be able to manage the dessert trolley this time - it was awesome. We stayed over on a Saturday night so unsurprisingly the restaurant was completely full and this meant the service team were at times a little stretched.

Breakfast was ok but again the waitress was so busy - could have done with another pair of hands - she forgot to offer us any eggs so the price of E18.50 each seemed a little steep for the couple of croissants we had.

Other than that no hesitation at all in staying here again & next time the dessert trolley is a must!

Even as a retired hotelier who might be well capable of finding faults this was, quite as I expected, impossible at this truly splendid Hotel.

Our recent visit was, I think our 5th and, as we expected, we were welcomed and allocated very well furnished and equipped rooms before having tea in the gardens, which have been extensively 'improved' since our last visit and now have a large, and very well planned produce & flower garden growing vegetables, herbs etc for the hotel. It was here we had tea and most enjoyable it was.

Dinner on our first night was in Vasco's and, quite frankly this was absolutely faultless. On our second night we ate in Robert 11 which is their Gourmet Restaurant and this was, if such a thing is possible, was even better with an extensive and quite superb Wine List.

It is I think impossible to praise this Hotel & it's staff enough.
