This was such a welcome hotel! First, everything worked! Comfortable bed, clean, nice, funky, but basic decor with a working shower and a functional toilet. Power after dark. Great front deck area. Very good breakfast complete with tasty fresh buns, ample fresh fruit, tea or coffee and all served on your front porch shortly after you woke up. A refreshing relaxing place to stay. And within easy walking distance to a great place to eat fresh grilled fish.

Room Tip: They are all great.

Nirvana is just okay, nice bungalows and not to much rooms. But that's about it. Riung deserves a better place but I don't think there is any.

We took a boat trip arranged by the hotel to the 17 islands. Their trip is okay. Although they speak limited English and just follow the other boats, just what we didn't wanted. For good snorkelling there must be better trips. But the lunch was really excellent!! The best food we had in Indonesia, fresh caught fish grilled with curry. Even if you don't like fish a treat.

The ride from bejawa to Riung is terrible, old buses and the worse road he can imagine. The scenery though is beautiful, like riding through the jungle.

The owner, asks 1.300.000 rp for a car to Moni. This is ridiculous hence we were told later that locals pay at least half the amount. In my view this is not how you treat your guests.

There are reports on tripadvisor about stolen valuables. For that reason we were very careful. They ask for to leave the lights on outside your bungalow for this reason.

We spent 2 nights at Nirvana Riung. We loved it. We paid 200.000 rph p/night. Nirvana is close to the harbour and the 2 restaurants of Riung. Bed perfect, musquitonet perfect, (cold) shower and toilet outside OK. Breakfast is poor for Western standards. Tom (owner) is a really helpfull guy. He will help you to arrange your daytrip and transport to Ende/ Bajawa. In our opinion Tom really tries to prevent another burglary. New cain walls/ leave outside lights switched on at night.

This is a gerat place to stay in Riung. The bungalows are nice and clean, basic outdoor bathrooms, with mandi style cold shower, and a fan inside. It's so hot you don't really need hot water... breakfast is included, and coffee or tea is always offered. The price (150 000 Rp) is normal for Flores, and the atmosphere and people there are great. Tam, the owner is very helpful to give information about the town, ongoing journeys, and can organize trips to the 17 Islands as well. The island trip is great with a fantastic lunch of grilled fish and other local dishes.
I have read about the thefts, and luckily we did not experience it. Tam and the staff ask you to lock all of the windows and doors, and make sure of your belongings to help avoid such things from happening.
We stayed for 3 great, relaxing nights, and highly recommend Nirvana.

Basic bungalows with a little terrasse. We paid 150.000 IDR a night. There is no hot water but you don't really need it anyway. Tom, the chilled-out owner is very friendly and helpful and speaks really good English. He likes to have a chat with the guests. They had a few problems with stealing before so he is very careful now constantly reminding us to lock our room when we leave and to keep the outside light on during the night. There are reinforced locks on the windows and the door. We didn't have any issue during our 4 nights stay. Breakfast is included but not great. On the other hand, they provide you with free tea and good coffee througout the day.

Heard about the stealing and evertything too in the bungalow, thats why the owner and the staff always remind us to lock the main door and the bathroom. But in the other hands, this place is awesome. Pretty basic but what can u ask more in Flores? clean room, pretty cheap and warm athmosphere. They also provide the trip to national park and kalong island which is amazing. The lunch on the beach was the best. Fresh fish grilled on the beach and the sambal was delicious. Despite the basic accomodation, the service is excellent.

The room seemed to be prepared for the stealing which occured during the night
1. There were holes in the walls to check when guests are asleep - they have been made from inside
2. The mosquito net neatly tucked beneath the mattress - but explicitly left outside next to pillow to allow reaching valuables inside from beneath the bed
3. Latch at the door was not possible to close

We heard that other travelers had their valuables stolen here as well.

Room Tip: Do NOT take one of the bungalows in the middle - they seem to be prepared for stealing
