“Great services in Maumere”
Reviewed May 9, 2014 via mobile

We stayed here for a couple if weeks starting 24 april through 10 may 2014. We had a pleasant stay. We had a room with nice ocean view. The staff keeps hotel clean, tidy and make our stay such a pleasant one. Bathroom is nice clean and has hot water. They change your tooth brush when it becomes overused :). Not our toothbrush but theirs, which part of hotel complimentary. It also has minibar.

This is a business type hotel not for those looking for tourists or travelers but would be great for long term occupants. The longer you stay the more intense services they give.

For many occasions, we had sometimes some cakes/delicacies served in front of our room, at our balcon. You can ask the waitress to serve warm bread every morning. Their meals are good.

What differs this hotel with the others are that they serve also serve free afternoon tea accompanied with changing dessert choice every day.

They have also billiard or pool table, and ironing is FREE. We wash our clothes and they iron them for free, bu then we pay them IDR10,000 for bulk of clothes to iron, and they are very OK with it.

If you visit maumere, dont miss to sun-lounge at marvelous Koka Beach, shop at Pasar Tingkat where they sell tenun ikat, and on its second floor they sell songket flores for only IDR 60,000. Go fishing squids at the back of the hotel or to Magepanda to spend afternoon at picturesque, hillious Tanjung beach.

I have traveled the length of Indonesia and so compare this to other hotels in the archipelago. I stayed in the VIP room at $55 a night. For this I received big, firm bed with clean linens, two thick towels, hot water, an assortment of mosquitoes and an air conditioner that belched old cigarette smoke at periodic intervals. But I also go an incredible sunrise sea view. There is a karoake bar next to the hotel which they can't control and if you are in the ground floor VIP rooms, it can be really loud until the very wee hours of the morning. Breakfast was fine, mostly Indonesian but sweet buns with cheese and fresh fruit for those who want more Western flavor. Sea View is quieter but this far East, this is a pretty good value and they take credit cards.

Room Tip: Room 117 is right up against the karaoke bar.

Functional hotel which had ok business amenities in an uninspiring town. The room was clean but had a cockroach problem and there were at least 5 dead in the bathroom although there was spray provided in the room, which suggests this is a very common problem. There was a bit of confusion with the front desk as they did not speak English, they wanted me to pay for the room but Agoda had already taken the money, this was resolved. With the serious lack of choice this hotel did fine as an overnight stop before catching the flight out, it is incredibly near to the airport and the hotel organised a free transfer.

Because of my work, I always stay at Hotel Pelita. It just fits the bill. Clean, reasonable rate, and good services with friendly staffs. If you're on business travel, the front porch is very convinient for an informal meeting with your work partners. The hotel also offers breakfast, afternoon snacks and wifi. You can also rent their car (with driver) if you want to travel around the city, even if you want to go to Kelimutu Crater Lake in Ende!

But, those niceties can be gone in a second and become a disaster, if you stay there when the meeting room is used for parties!
