We were in the area for a family function and got a great deal on an apartment for 2 nights.
We arrived at 3pm, but couldn't get into the apartment until after 5.30. This is normal, as it is a resort and the houskeepers have to completely turn around the site, which isn't as simple as changing a bed and cleaning a bathroom.
When we walked into the apartment, it was split level and much larger than my home, with 2 bedrooms, 1 of which was en-suite another bathroom with sauna, and a seperate WC. There was a very spacious living area with kitchen, dining table and a balcony with great views! As there was only 2 of us, we chose to use the pull down bed in the living, which suited us, as this was where the only TV was.
The leisure centre was well equipped and clean, we used this once and it was fairly quiet at the time, there is also and outdoor pool, which we opted to stay away from as it was the middle of November.
We used the bar when we were waiting for the apartment to be ready. We had some sandwiches, that were very nice and wel presented. There are walks in the surrounding woods with marked paths that we used to walk off the lunch.
On the second night, we dined in the restaurant, which is above the bar on the forst floor. it was very quiet with only a few tables in, which suited us well. The food quality was very good with a carvery option for main course. My only criticism would be the service. It seemed very lacklustre, in that there was no uniform and one (head) waiter was wearing jeans, a bit too informal for the setting! My other issue was that when we were offered dessert, we had the same man read from a piece of paper and expect us to remeber and order there and then. I am the kind of person who likes to be seduced by a menu, then make up my mind, so after the "reading" we declined, which lost them a sale. The food & drinks were well priced and it saves you cooking or having to venture into Aberdovey to eat. I would advise anyone to bring the tea, coffee, milk, sugar, etc with them. There are none supplied. If you forget, your last real option en-route is Machynlleth, which has a Co-op on the left as you are heading through, you can stock up there.
Overall, a graet couple of days, with generally great service and facilities, great if your a family, or just want a quiet getaway.
