“Had wonderful time. definitely going back.”
Reviewed September 16, 2011

Before I start, this was a cheap holiday (14 nights) and flying from Norwich suited us fine. From start to finish I cannot complain as the Thomson reps were very helpful and the staff at the Olive Grove were very welcoming. Our apartment was simple and very spacious and a stones throw from the pool etc. The staff were all very friendly and always treated you as a regular soon remembering what drinks you preferred and always on hand for advice on where to go.

I will list a few tips for where to eat etc.

Eating out:
Olive Grove bar. No need to go far as the food at Olive Grove is very good and always freshly cooked.

Tex Mex. halfway down the main high street very good Mexican food in nice roof garden.

Churchill's. British pub grub excellent fish and chips short walk from Olive Grove towards main beach.

going the other way the Orchard Taverna does excellent Greek food and salads.

If you go to Kassiopi on day trip eat at the 3 brothers Taverna where the main street meets the harbour. Greek food at its best. and very lively staff.

Finally go and see Napoleon at the "1 for the road bar" in the high street best night out we found, this place is mad.

Places to see:

Kassiopi (on coach 5 euros for day),

Sunset beach and Drastis Cove, Long walk but if you hire a moped for 20 euros takes 10 minutes. Eat watching the sunset from the Panorama Restaurant, Be warned the staff here are grumpy at best but the view is worth it.

Go for a boat trip to 3 caves well worth it.

I loved our 14 day holiday and will be back next year there is so much to see and do. I love the Greek way of life the total lack of rules and regulations you get in the UK was a refreshing change. Due to the euro crisis at the moment things are dearer in Corfu than the UK so be careful with your spending money.

Room Tip: If you want quiet get a room at back of block A

where can i start?never wrote a review before but feel i have to about olive grove.I will start with the moaners who have put indifferent reviews about this fantastic place ,people who moan about the cleaning, our room was kept spotless, cleaned 6 days a week, the whole place was kept spotless all the time we were there.then there are those who moan about the facilities for gods sake it is 2 star but i would say more like 3 star, the staff?how anyone can say they are rude is beyond me because we were treated better than anywhere i have ever been,i cannot say enough about them,i would like to say thank you to katterina, yanni, steve and dan for making our holiday so special, nothing was too much trouble, the food was excellant especially the breakfast,ok you could get it cheaper in the centre but the quality wasnt as good, the bbq night was good fun with lovely food.we met some lovely people there and not one of them had a bad word about the place, there is a lovely beach only minutes away and the main strip of sidari ten minute walk there wasnt much entertainment on the site but you only needed to walk down the road and get that at the many bars or restaurants,i would recommend the siesta bar for a good night,

We had been to the Olive Grove before and had a excellent holiday, but the experience we had this year was no where near the same. We stayed in the new block but was disaappointed with the cleanliness of the room. The cleaner was no where near up to scratch and we felt the need to wear shoes in the room or our feet were black!. There was no were near enough sun beds, we are on a relaxing holiday having to get up at 7-8 each morning to put towels out on sunbeds. This was after we were being kept up by the noise at the bar til 3-4 in the morning most nights. No consideration for the rest of the guest in the hotel. The other thing that was disappointing was the constant feeling that you were trying to rip Yannis off, being constantly questioned about whether you have paid your bar bill. Seems that it is all about the money you are spending and not about the fact you have spent money to go back to a once nice resort with welcoming staff. We would like to say that we would be back, but i am not sure we will and this is a real shame.

Apartment was fine.Sparse on crockery and cutlery but you get by with what you have.
Maid service was excellent if you asked for anything by the time you got to your room it was there.Ate there once .The food was really nice.We only use the apartment to sleep in and make a sandwich for lunch as we know lots of people that live there and we visit them.We use the pool late afternoon when it is not as hot and we do not drink at the poolside apart from water.
It is true that they are very friendly if you are at the bar for your holidays. When we were leaving we didn,t even get a goodbye as they don,t want to know you if you don,t drink there and go to the bbq.People who were at the bar for there holidays got a really good send off

Room Tip: We had a ground floor apartment overlooking the pool. Was quiet in the evenings even when there were...

The welcome from the lady was ok,But when we first met Yannis and Dani (bar staff etc) they were not to frendly, rude. We found that Dani was only interested in the girls. One evening i took my daughter to the bar to get drink, i asked Dani for an orange juice he then stated to make some sort of cocktail, I stopped him and said what is that you are making i hope it is not alcohol? He said yes I said I asked for an orange juice! I said my daughter is only 14.he then shouted at me to speak up blaming me for his ineptitude. Very distasteful. We avoided the bar area after that because we felt very unwelcome, Yannis was a horrible man too. Tried to overcharge me by 15 euros one time and complained at me that we did not go to there bq. He seemed to be angry with us all the time. These two people ruined our holiday.it would wouldn’t it unless they like you then you will probaly have a good holiday.Everyday we found it hard to get a sunbed always covered with someones towels,So oneday i said to my daughter i would get up very early and put our towels out for once.We came out that morning and we could not see our towels but someone elses on the beds.I was looking around for them and a kind lady said are they you towels in the bottom of the pool? Yes Iater found out that Yannis had thrown them in them in after he sew me put them down. What a complete ****ole. We were supposed to be the customers!
The kitchen was a joke ,Sink fridge 3 forks 3 knifes 3 spoons, a bottle opener. a two hob camping stove stuck on the end of the sink. ABSOLUTLY no room to cook, cut just about managed to make a bowl of cornflakes and a cup of tea.I like to cook on holiday but found it impossible.so had to go out to eat every day. We would like to go out to eat but not on every time we were hungry that’s why we go SELFCATER...The pool area was nice, and the hotel has a good location next to a lovely beach, the local people were very nice.If you turn right at the end of the road and walk for 15 mins you will find some nice Greek taverners Alex,s is our fav. Maybe if you pay Dani and Yannis to be nice to you ,you may enjoy there company. Then again if you are female you will be fine

Room Tip: stay in a differant hotel

Myself and two uni friends stayed at the Olive Grove for 2 weeks in June and It's been the best holiday we've had yet!! Anyone leaving a negative review about this place needs a reality check. Firsty the location is fantastic, 1 minute walk from a secluded cove and only a 10 minute walk from the main strip - though there are plenty of fantastic tavernas/bars to eat at right on your doorstep (including the yummy food on offer at Olive Grove!) It's position away from the main bit of Sidari is perfect as it's very quiet but you're still close to the action. The pool and bar area were always immaculately clean and well looked after, the pool is a decent size and has a seperate section for children. We stayed in a 3 bed room and found the facilities to be above average compared to places we've stayed in Greece before. There was stacks of room, a proper kitchenette area and a decent bathroom. Saving the best to last.. the staff at Olive Grove were FANTASTIC! Yianni, Katerina, Steve and Dan were the friendliest most welcoming hosts you could ask for! We would definitely recommened attending the thursday evening BBQ - the food is amazing (almost too much to consume!) and the entertainment is even better. We will definitely be coming back here!

We had a great holiday. We had heard that the owner was rude to people who didn't use the bar. We only used the bar once due to everyone smoking, but still found the proprietor very obliging. Would use this hotel again.
