When our transfer reached Sidari my partner and I saw that lots of hotels' pools were next to the main road which I wasn't overly keen on as I wanted a nice quiet relaxing holiday with the odd big night out.
We were the last drop off and very pleased to find that our hotel was slightly set off the main road along a white gravel road. This meant that there was hardly any traffic that went past making sunbathing by the pool very peaceful and relaxing.
The room itself was very clean and more than big enough for the two of us. As expected it was quite basic but that was what we expected. The only gripe that I had about the room was the shower curtain which was too close to the shower cubicle to it always stuck to you when you were showering.
The room was cleaned every day and the cleaner was very friendly happy to replace towels/sheets if you asked her to. I would recommend paying for the air conditioning as it made returning back to our room so nice after baking in the sun and we had no problems sleeping at all.
The beaches in SIdari aren't the best in the world so we spent quite a lot of time by the pool which was more than big enough for everyone to enjoy. Overall our stay at this hotel was just what we were looking for. All staff were very friendly and helpful and made us feel at home.
The walk into Sidari takes less than 10 minutes and is far from deserted. There is a Taverna at the bottom of the road from the hotel which has lovely sea views and does really nice traditional greek food. On your way into Sidari you pass a taverna called "Traditional taverna Kavadias". We ate out every day and the food here was definitely the best and the fire dancing was very entertaining.
Finally a quick bit about Sidari. The coastline is absolutely beautiful and should be walked along especially the canal D'amour. In my humble opinion I don't think the beaches in Sidari are the best, but the sea is as warm as the Caribbean and very shallow for a long way out so great if you have kids or like a paddle.
There is one main street that runs parallel with the beach and this is where all of the bars and shops are. On a night out there are the usual touts trying to get you into their bars by giving away loads of free shots or 2-4-1 cocktails. We went out a couple of times and had a great time. There are loads of tribute acts which were quite funny to watch - Lady gaga and Cher were a highlight! It can get a bit annoying being asked into bars all of the time but it was no where near as bad as other places I have been before. If you said you weren't interested then they left you alone and didn't hassle you.
One quick warning - BEWARE of mosquitoes. Its not like there are massive swarms of them but there are quite a few and we saw loads of people who had been bitten to death. I can only assume that they did not use any repellent as we put some on every night before we went out and neither of us got bitten during the whole holiday. So pack your mosquito repellent, sunglasses, hangover cures and have a great time like we did.
