we have just come back from week at the hotel and we have no complaints .it is their first season of all inclusive and every place has hiccups and im sure this is the only problem as far as we could see the staff couldnt do more to help as soon as anyone suggested anything they was on it like a shot as for the damp we have lived abroad and know when humidity is high as it was it can feel damp cant be helped im afraid the greek night was fantastic entertainment which all the staff worked hard to please everyone.
The rooms were cleaned every day except sunday they have to rest some day the food was hot and plentifull

We have just returned from a week's stay in The Zafiris and I have just read some of the other reviews. I think they must have been staying in a different hotel to us! We arrived for the first week that it had opened for the season and the first time it has been an "all inclusive" hotel.

We arrived hungry after a long airport transfer at around 10:30 pm and thought we had missed dinner as the restaurant was closed. We were shown to our room (and it was lovely with a view of the pool, double family room with lounge, balcony and separate bedroom and bathroom on the first floor) to find we had been left dinner (including pudding) in the fridge in our room, and from that moment on we were overwhelmed by the friendliness and customer care of all the staff there.

Our accommodation was very clean, bright and no damp. The maids cleaned and replaced our towels every day apart from Sunday. Yes there were a couple of teething problems for the hotel but these were addressed as they were mentioned with willingness and good humour. All the staff just wanted to ensure we had a great time.

Food did cool quickly the first couple of days but it wasnt served cold. When this was pointed out, food covers were quickly produced and the food remained hot for the rest of the week. There was always a varied choice at every meal time, the beer was cold and on tap. I think the timings could be relaxed around the pool bar and I did wonder why we were charged 1 euro for iced coffees when coffee and ice are included in the "all inclusive" option but this is a minor niggle. I would say that holidays are what you make then and we didnt stop laughing all week.

The entertainment team are a real asset to the hotel. Stelios' greek dancing needs to be seen to be believed and Natalie's entertaining aqua aerobics in the cold sea certainly made you appreciate the warm pool when you got back!

For a 3* hotel you really do get 5* customer service and I think this needs to be remembered, if you want 5* then pay for 5*, we found the holiday to be good value and I cannot recommend this hotel enough, great location just off the main road so easy to walk into town or to hit the beach. The sunsets have got to be seen to be believed. We liked the fact that the Saxophone bar was just outside the complex for evening entertainment as it meant the accommodation itself was quiet in the evenings.

We have just got back and intend to book and return in September. If you want to feel that you are on holiday with new friends then this is the place to go!

Room Tip: Choose a double family room with a view of the pool. Ground floor rooms do not have a great deal of privacy

Well where can I start..
On coming to the 3* 'hotel' as it now rated we were led to our room in pitch black,at 11.30pm, we looked very isolated. The bedding wad very damp but thought nothing of it. My son slipped on wet flooring from condensation and still a week later has a huge bruise on his led
At about 6am ish the moped/cars/cleaners talking outside room woke us up( this happened every morning!) also no screening on patio doors out from bedroom so option of dressing in morning is A, close curtains and do it in poor light or B be seen by all!. Asked to be moved and we were told the apartments were full... Funny as we know there were several rooms moor in complex that were free. After that our holiday went down hill really, had to pay for unbranded drinks if not vodka ouzo or rum at bars, childs pool min of 0.8m with no steps so not only unsafe but unusable really for under 4s.Night disco for kids (as I sort of expected firstchoice /Thomson!) was non existent and as for themed Greek night.. Didn't happen either... Kids soft play area closed all the time (health & safety aka poor planning) so nothing for kids to do. Paths to beach need resurfacing and steps to the beach very unsafe... Maybe we were guinipigs for this hotel going from self catering to all inclusive and it is a joke! My 1.5 year olds only exerciser was the walk to/from meals or when out of complex because inside complex was too unsafe with broken deck, ruff edging near pool he spent most of his time in pushchair.
If you've children under 5 go somewhere else do not waste your money. I feel like I have been let down by spending so much and having this holiday as a result!
Thanks alot Thomson/ first choice, and I wouldn't of normally written a review but I don't want another family to put up with what we have had to

Further to the comments posted the hotel would add the following for clarification:-

General Observations

• The Zafiris Hotel is a 60 room hotel. The hotel cannot be meaningfully compared with 500/1000 bed 4* and 5* star hotels in either Greece or in other destinations. This is an unfair comparison. However all of the staff at the Zafiris Hotel are committed to providing a friendly and professional service to ensure that customers have a great holiday.

• The positive approach of the staff and owners of the hotel are best acknowledged by awards the hotel has taken over the years, the comments on TripAdvisor and the continuing positive feedback that the hotel receives from both the customers that have travelled with us many times and for those for whom this is their first visit.
This includes many of the guests who stayed in the hotel the first week of this season.

• Hotel Lighting
• The lighting in the grounds has been checked and it was found that lighting throughout the grounds is sufficient for safe exit / entrance to the guest accommodation.

• Bedding
• The hotel does not provide damp / wet bedding in any guest room.
• High humidity recorded in the first week of opening may contribute to a clammy feeling in rooms. (Humidity recorded at between 87/93%)

• Cleaning Staff / Location of accommodation
• The accommodation is not located on the main road.
• The cleaning staff commence their duties at approximately 07.00 Hrs.

• Room types
• All rooms are provided with curtains and the light bulbs checked on a regular basis.
• The hotel was not fully booked the first week. This is a miss understanding. The “room type” that the guest booked and paid for was full.
• There are 5 room types in the hotel. The hotel is obliged to provide exactly what is stated on the customers final confirmation.

• Branded / Unbranded Drinks
• The hotel offers a range of unbranded drinks which are included in the all inclusive arrangements and other drinks which are not.
• The hotel can confirm that the majority of branded drinks are discounted to 1€ or 2€ where these are not included in the all inclusive package.
• There are some exceptions (Malibu or similar) these exceptions are shown on the tariff cards which are displayed on both bars.
• All inclusive drinks - Unbranded local gin, brandy, vodka, white rum, wine, coffee, soft drinks (cola lemonade orangeade etc) & draught beer.

• Coffee
• Coffee / tea / hot chocolate is available & included in the all inclusive package from 0730 to 2100 from the main restaurant.
• Cappuccino and Iced coffee can be purchased from the pool bar at a price of 1€.

• Children’s Section of the Pool
• The children’s section of the pool is 80cm deep. It has been used by countless children over a 15 year period with no previous adverse comment.

• Themed Nights
• Themed nights. A variety of Greek dishes were provided on Sunday 6th of May. The hotel received a very positive reaction to that evenings menu and has decided to continue with the same menu each week.
• The hotel tries to cater for a variety of different tastes and this is reflected in the dishes offered to guests. This includes both National and International dishes. Additionally there are some children’s dishes that are also provided. I.E Chicken nuggets and fish fingers.

• Al’carte Service
• This is provided (subject to weather conditions) during the months of June July & August.

• Disco for children
• Disco for children – The hotel feels confident that if guests enquired at the time of their holiday the hotel / First Choice staff would have arranged some suitable “disco” dancing.

• Kids soft play area
• Kids soft play area – The hotel has 2 play areas. Both an external play area which is open and an internal soft play area.
• Despite a number of attempts to secure the correct replacement padding for the soft play area it has not proved possible to do so.
• Therefore the decision has been taken to close the soft play area for the season.
• The hotel would like to note that before the hotel opened a sign was placed in the soft play area “Closed for Maintenance” This subsequently disappeared hence the area has now been completely closed off.

• Path to the beach
• The hotel is not responsible for the maintenance of the roads / paths external to the hotel grounds. The main beach which parents may find easier to use with young families is only a short walk away. Approx 600 M.

We trust that customer planning to travel with us this year will find this useful.

Having arrived late at night we was shown to our room by the bar manager where he said food had been left which was good of them from here it went down hill
We was right at the end of the complex down a hill near enough on the main road away from the restaurant and pool with 3 young children not good we asked to move to another room was told it was all full we was their on the day of opening for the season.
The room itself was average the floors are a nightmare more like an ice rink always wet and slippy the bedding and towels are always damp and never dry this has caused 2 child to have bad chest their is mould on the Walls glad to be home
The food started off cold on the first day and gradually got warmer but it never changed no themed night as advertised no hill top restaurant and the bannisters where it should be are rotting
Activities for kids are a joke pool for kids is deep at 0.80 meter with no steps to get in point is avoid this place like the plague all inclusive is a joke made to pay for non branded drinks and t and coffee by the pool plus note staff are nice and
friendly stay away for own good
