“Things you should know about the Marika Studios”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

We have just arrived back from a week at the above studios.
I'll start with the pros: Fabulous position ( out of grounds onto beach ) and practically in the centre of the village. Lovely terrace with a handy shelter from the sun. Pool of adequate size. Spotlessly clean.Kettle !....Full size oven and fridge freezer.Good value if you know what to expect.
They seem to be advertised as 3* but I can't understand how that has come about. 2* at tops.
The size is just ok but the kitchen cupboards are in need of replacement,no toaster or grill on the oven, no microwave, no hairdryer, no reading lamps (lighting a little dismal ). The shower curtain is too short therefore the bathroom really becomes a wet room, which is ok as long as you are the first one in !! and there isn't much hot water after around 6.30 in the evening..We are told that air con is payable by token but I can't verify that as we didn't need it.The general feeling we have is that they are a little unloved and lack atmosphere. Just one or two pots around the pool and a bit of greenery would make such a difference,
If a quiet location, central and not pricey is what you are after then you will probably be satisfied with the Marika.

I realize that you get what you pay for but this was ridiculous. Could go on forever about the place but take my word for it, apart from the location being great the place needs bulldozing asap

Lots of room for improvement and I got the feeling that the owners had very little respect for holiday makers.

Room Tip: Im not a fussy person and actually prefer just basic accommodation but I was terribly disappointed a...

Booked a week at the Marika through Easy jet, definitely not 3 stars!! These rooms are down an unlit side street, they have no name on the outside,
There is no reception or bar and no rep with Easy jet so be warned if anything is missing there is no one to ask. All enquires are made at the travel corner in the main square.
On arrival your name is blue tacked to the door and the key is left in it, the room was prepared for 2 and there were 4 of us so 2 pillows, 2 towels etc.
Towels were changed once in the week, sheets not at all. Cleaner came in twice to empty the bins. Bathroom light didn’t work and despite asking twice (at the travel corner) for the bulb to be changed nothing happened. Location is good and there are plenty of restaurants and bars, Beach is shingle and very small. We had 3 days of solid rain and the Marika is NOT somewhere you wnt to be trapped for that long! Guess it depends what you expect for 3 stars, Kassioppi has plenty to offer just don't stay at the Marika.

Room Tip: Definately not room 2 VERY dark

Spent a week here in June 2012 travelling as a group of three ladies sharing a two bedroomed apartment with sea view on the first floor. The apartments were well maintained, kept clean and tidy and the air conditioning was effective. The weather was very warm whilst we were there, +30 easily, yet we were comfortable even in the bedrooms. No problems with the hot water for showers and the fridge and cooker were modern.
The main plus point is the location, tucked away down a quiet road with the pool and terrace looking over the little beach. Plenty of sun beds and a handy covered area providing welcome shade in the hottest part of the day. Was only spoiled by some inconsiderate residents who arrived midweek and insisted on playing their music by the pool, who wants to listen to "White christmas" in June!? Otherwise was really relaxing, we used the table on the patio to have breakfast somedays when no one else was around. A little gate leads to the beach which is pebbly so take suitable footwear if you fancy a swim.
Imerolia is a short (10 to 15) minute walk away along the beach and up a gentle hill. The imerolia taverna is in a lovely location and we walked there a couple of times in the day for drinks and had lunch there which was very good, would recommend.
The Janis taverna is a couple of minutes away along the beach great service, very friendly, very good food and a fantastic view of the sunset. Prices very reasonable as well given the quality of food and service. Our favourite I think.
Kassiopi village and harbour is a short walk away (5 to 10 mins) and is a mixture of traditional and more modern bars and restaurants. Some bits chavvy but i guess thats a sign of the times, didn't spoil it though. We ate at the more traditional places. Try the meat meze at Castello, food great and owner very hospitable. Sousouros just off the main street down to the harbour was also excellent. Would also recommend Petrinos by the harbour and the 3 brothers also by the harbour. Cocktail hour we spent at deja vu, good variety of cocktails reasonably priced and very friendly waiter.
We didn't do much more than sunbathe, eat and drink others than we did take the day excursion to Corfu town by boat which is worth seeing.
All in all there was enough to keep us happy for the week, perfect weather, good accommodation, some nice restaurants and friendly people. Would definitely consider returning in the future but as this was my first trip to Greece would like to try some other islands first.

Room Tip: Worth paying a little extra for a sea view room but bear in mind there are steps up to first floor s...

the marika in kassiopi is clean, well equipped and has free air con, what more could you ask? how about the views over towards imerolia, the beach at the bottom of the sun deck, the clean pool, the well equipped kitchen, the proximity of the resort centre and harbour.....well i could go on. all i would say is if you want a nice appartment in the very best part of kassiopi, book the marika and i am sure you won't be dissapointed.

The apartments are in a lovely location, right next to the sea at the end of a small, quiet lane of other apartments and houses belonging to locals.
The pool area is quite plain but has a large covered area to get out of the intense sun. There were plenty of chairs and sun beds although some of the chairs had seen better days.
We had a two bedroomed sea view apartments and a studio at the back. One of the bedrooms in the apartment overlooked the sea and the second was at the back. You could see the sea if you leant over the balcony and looked down the side. The back overlooked olive trees to one side, other apartments and a view up the lane of orange tree, pine and bourganvillea. It got the sun in the morning and was cool in the afternoon for relaxing and reading. The seaview balcony got the sun in the afternoon.
The sea view bedroom had had the balcony doors and shutters replaced and were secure. The back bedroom had lockable shutters but the balcony doors wouldn't shut properly. We used the safety deposit box at Kassiopi Travel so had no worries about our valuables. The furniture is serviceable but rather tired but the cooker was new and there was a large fridge freezer, toaster and kettle. The bathroom was a lovely shade of avocado!
The 'studio' apartment was actually a one bedroomed apartment although you could see some of the other rooms were studios. It had a new white bathroom and new cooker as well.
Kassiopi Travel were excellent and immediately sorted out the few niggles we had.
At the end of the lane there was the Castello taverna which did a wonderful fish meze. This was great as our mother is 78 with walking difficulties so when she was tired we could go there. It was only a few more minutes walk to the square and five minutes to the harbour.
Jasmine's did a good breakfast selection and the staff were very friendly.
We went to the bar with the Greek dancing (can't remember the name!) and it was an excellent show. One of the dancers helped Mum down the steps at the end and gave her a kiss so she was very happy!!!!
Everywhere we went people were happy to help Mum. This was her and my 81 year old Dad's first time in Greece and they loved it. I would be happy to stay in these apartments and this resort on my own and did see several single women during our stay.
A wonderful holiday.

Room Tip: Decide if you want front sea view or back lane viw
