We went to Elbow Cay May 3rd through the 10th and had a great time. We went to the Wine Down Sip Sip bar twice and really loved it. Simone was working there and she makes you feel so welcome. We loved the history she gave us on the island also. We would recommend this bar to everyone and will definitely be coming back!!!

This is my favorite evening haunt in Hopetown. It's quieter (some of the other spots have live bands), no smoking inside, very friendy folks. The owner, Bonnie, has some great stories of her experiences with the Volunteer Fire and Rescue, and supporting BASRA (Bahamas Air and Sea Rescue Association).

The full name is Wine Down Sip Sip. Sip sip is a Bahamian phrase meaning gossip. There's a wonderful mix of locals, 2nd homeowners, boat people, and vacationers from all over the place. Friday nights it's a lively gathering spot for the "Sip Sip Sots." There's a $5 lifetime membership fee (the major portion of which goes to Friends of Abaco Animals, an organization that supports abandoned, homeless, and needy animals). Your Sots card will also get you discounts at some local restaurants.

We visited SIp Sip on February 28th, it was my husbands 49th birthday. After visiting another bar, which will remain unnamed we walked to sip sip and were so delightfully surprised! If you are thinking that this is the same place as one year ago -it is NOT!. That was a liquor store this is a lovely wine bar. My husband sampled some interesting bourbons and I had the goombay punch-which I love!!! Our friend had some delicious chardonnay, -3 glasses in fact. They serve fresh popped pop corn and you can order food from a nearby restaurant and they will deliver.
The interior is not fancy but really has a beachy living room vibe. There are window seat sofas and a few tables and chairs. There is also a black bar with seats for 4-5.
We were there for about 1 1/2 hours and during that time a few locals came in and a few renters visited for a 'happy hour' drink. The prices are very reasonable. Simone is the barmaid/sommelier and she is funky and fun. It is just a really cool local place to go.
Really should not be missed if you are coming to Hope Town.
Tell Simone Hello from the Millers in Oklahoma. We will be back!!!
