Stayed at the Lofty Fig for one night at the end of our sailboat charter week. The hotel is very quiet, very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. Sid the owner is very friendly and very helpful and a fun guy to chat with. We would definitely stay there again. At the beginning of our trip we stayed for a night at the Conch Inn. Between the two, we thought the Lofty Fig was much nicer, much more comfortable, and just as good of a location if you are diving or sailing with Mooring/Sunsail. You cannot go wrong choosing the Lofty Fig.

The Lofty Fig Villas is a great place to call home while in Marsh Harbour. Directly across the street from one of the marinas, restaurants, and some nice shops. A short walk (1mile) to the ferry that takes you to Hope Town.

Sid, the owner, makes everyone feel at home. The villas are a cut above a number of other places in the Bahamas. They are very comfortable, clean, with a great kitchen to make meals or just keep some beer cold!

The pool is very clean and with the BBQ nearby, you can have a wonderful dinner.

When there ask Sid the tips for the ring toss game.

Room Tip: All rooms are very nice. They are similar to a studio apartment.

This was our second year traveling to Abaco and we found The Lofty Fig an Outstanding choice for the first two nights of our adventure. The owner is very friendly and infornative on the area attractions, food & drink as well as keeping a very well maintianed group of villas! The location is great!, being in walking distance of local eateries, clubs and provisions.
We had an "outstanding dinner" at Wally's restaurant about a block down from The Fig and yes, (LOL) Sid suggested it! Thanks Again Sid! Across the street from The Fig you'll find more great Bar & Grills we hit such as Snappas, Mangos and the view from "Curly Tails" as sunset is not to be missed! Did I mention the cool shops down the street? Iggy Biggy, John Bull and Mangoes Boutiques all had great buys to spoil your loved ones.
We had a blast soaking up the warm Bahamian sun pool side with a cold beer outside our villa watching the Hummingbirds flower hopping & curly tails that stop by!
Not to be overlooked! Tell Sid Mark & Kathleen said Hi........

Room Tip: We stayed in villa # 2 if that helps? But I believe they all are similar and Sid did an unbelievab...

We stayed at the Lofty Fig for an entire week and used it as a base to see other islands in the area. We had a group of people and rented 4 of the 6 villas and had a great experience there.

Sid provided us with a great deal of helpful information and the rooms were very comfortable and clean. All of the rooms were updated and decorated well.

You can not beat the location of the lofty Fig. It is central to everything and you can easily walk to everything needed.

Due to dense cloud cover we were required to spend a night in Marsh Harbour. After having sat at the airport for four hours, once the flight was canceled, we had to scramble to get two hotel rooms for the night. Thanks to a very helpful operator at MasterCard's concierge service we were directed to The Lofty Fig Villas. The owner, Sid, said he had two rooms left and would hold them for 30 minutes. Just a short cab ride away from the airport we arrived to find Sid just finishing putting towels in the rooms.

Sid is a character in his own right. He is Canadian, and with his bald head and small sabre piercing his ear, looked like he would be more comfortable on a Pirate ship than in a hotel office. He was charming, hospitable, the perfect host, and was justifiably proud of his frequent high Tripadvisor ratings. He runs a nice establishment, and for the price of $167/night was one of the better priced hotels available, especially on such short notice. He was a wealth of information about the island and where to eat or visit, and were I to return to Marsh Harbour I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Lofty Fig again.

The Lofty Fig was built by Sid's parents in 1970. It has been updated since then, but still has a sort of 70's charm about it. There were 3 “villas” with two adjoining rooms in each. Both of ours, 3 & 4, had small, but well supplied, kitchens with coffee makers and coffee and tea provided. There were queen sized beds and a small dining room table with tropical style wicker couch, coffee table and chair. The bathroom was of moderate size with a walk in shower and pretty tile all about. There was some mildew along the caulk line behind the sink, but other than that the place was spotless. The bed linens were crisp and clean and the bed was very comfortable, extra pillows were in the closet. A small porch with a sliding glass door looked across the road at Mangoes restaurant and a slim view of the harbor.

The entry door looked out at a small, inviting, swimming pool with chaise lounge and chairs around it, a green lawn and palm trees. All the room buildings were painted a bright yellow with a turquoise trim. There was a gazebo beside the pool with two charcoal grills available to guests. It was quite lovely.

Mangoes, The Curly Tail, Snappas Grill & Chill, and Wally's restaurants were all within a few hundred yards. A liquor store was right next door. A taxi stand was a hundred feet away. The road in front of the hotel, Bay St., was moderately busy, it was right beside our rooms, but wasn't a bother.

We went to Curly Tail bar, located on the second floor above the similarly named restaurant. It has an amazing view of the harbor and outlying islands. Several other couples from the same canceled flight were there with us so it was very congenial. The bartender was very pleasant and prompt. We had conch fritters and grouper fingers. By this time I was looking to find the 'best' conch fritters, so I was trying them everywhere we ate. These rated quite low on the scale, heavy and doughy without much flavor, but the grouper fingers were delicious, done in a very light batter and served with a very good tartar sauce. We found the restaurant menu prices a little steep for our needs that night. Entrees averaging $25-$35. It too had a lovely view and there were tables outside.

Unfortunately Mangoes was closed on Wednesday as we had decided that their menu looked really good and was more in the price range we were looking for. Entrees $15-$25. It too had a great view over the harbor. It did open at 8:30 the following morning and had good coffee and fresh pastries.

We ended up going to Snappas bar. We watched the sunset and listened to some very nice music provided by “Jammin' Jan” and had a good dinner, The place is a bar, and we got exactly what one would expect. We were not disappointed with the food and had a good time.

Note: We paid $21 for four of us and our bags in a taxi from the airport to the hotel. The next morning the cab driver wanted to charge us $30. When we told her we had paid only $21 the day before she said, “I can do that.” Taxi fares are regulated by the Bahamian government, but we never actually saw a fare card, all the drivers just throw a price off the top of their heads. I think were I to go back I would ask to see a fare card.

Room Tip: Rooms 3 and 4 were right on the road, I would prefer 5 or 6 which are farther back on the property.

My wife and I have been visiting Abaco for over 30 years and have stayed in several hotels and cottages. Lofty Fig Villas is undoubtedly the best accommodation we have experienced in Marsh Harbour. The villas are perfectly located offering a choice of good restaurants, shops and a convenience store within a few steps. The eight cottages which are grouped around the pool are very clean, attractively and comfortably furnished, with well-equipped kitchen and privacy. The flat-screen TV and free wi-fi were also a welcome addition.
Sid and his staff are very friendly and made us feel that they really appreciated our business.
Most importantly, the Lofty Fig Villas represents excellent value for money.

My wife and i enjoyed 10 days at this gem. Sid, the owner,is very friendly and helpful with his suggestions. The location is great as a base for visiting the various cays in the area as well as a base for several restaurants and boat rentals. The rooms are immaculate with all the necessary features such as wi-fi, kitchen,TV and a screened porch. The pool, patio and grills are added are nice touches. This is real value.

Room Tip: Suite #6 is the best and #5 fine away from road No restaurant or fitness center so not rated.
