Discovered this restaurant a few weeks ago - have been back a few times now.
Very cozy and elegant setting, friendly and attentive wait staff, and great art on the walls! But this all pales compared to the quality of the food. We have had pasta dishes there, lamb, soups, salads, fish - it was all delicious, every time.
Recently it has been very busy and we needed reservations, so people are catching on.
While not entirely low-cost, this is definitively one of our favorites in the area, and we will return often, whether as a couple or with our kids.

We enjoyed a very good dinner this past Wednesday at Simplicity Bistro with 15 of our Probus Group. It was all delicious. The restaurant was full - a good thing - but very noisy. It was difficult to have a conversation. My husband and I are "wine" people and chose to bring our own wine to enjoy however the corkage fee of $20 exceeds any in the Georgian Triangle area. Most restaurants charge $10 and one charges $15. Some also have a $1 fee on a specific night. There are many great restaurants in this area competing so each needs to compete for the business.

My husband, his mother & I decided to go for a drive around Georgian Bay. We avoided the rain & made it to Meaford. Decided we would turn around there & head back to Thornbury for lunch. Stopped off at Grandma Lambe's. There were amazing pies & baked goods. Arrived in Thornbury & parked on the main st. It was Monday so most of the restaurants were closed. We (all) thought we had seen a restaurant on the way into Thornbury. We had & it was OPEN.
The Simplicity Bistro was amazing. Their small salad was quite a good size & enjoyable. They served homemade focaccia which was very tasty.
Decor was comfortably elegant with lots on the walls to look at & comment on. Service great without being obtrusive

This is a great local restaurant that is just off the main drag in Thornbury. It's small but cozy and has local art for sale/showcased on the walls. Always great specials of the day. Ribs, sweet potato fries,Caesar salad (when available) are awesome. Everything is homemade, nothing from a bottle. Great wine selection too. For dessert try the homemade donuts with caramel sauce...Yum!
