Owner description: Overlooking Omaha Beach, the launching point of the U.S. invasion of Normandy, this cemetery contains the graves of 9,386 American soldiers who died at Normandy and a touching memorial to another 1,557 whose bodies were never recovered.

Wow! If nothing else gets to you, this sure will. The memorial is just awe inspiring. All those crosses lined up row after row, knowing that each represents a human life, mostly young men. The whole site is just immaculate.
You leave speechless not knowing what to say if anything.
Well worth a visit even if you are not American.

This is a beautiful memorial to pay tribute to the American soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. I felt an overwhelming sense of American pride as I walked through the quite cemetery and took in the thousands of crosses that over look the sea. This was such a moving experience, I don't think any american should visit France and skip this. It was worth the three hour bus trip, and I would do it again, it was the highlight of our trip.

The graves are immaculately attended, the crosses and stars gleam in the sunlight. The ocean in the background with the quiet sound of the wind blowing left us breathless as the flags were lowered.

A beautiful and sacred space overlooking the sea. This simply cannot be missed. The graves facing west looking toward home were profound.

This is a must see for anyone who wants to understand the ravages of war and the role the US played in liberating Europe. Immaculately kept, simple and moving.... I was lucky to spend time there when no one was around... Very sobering
