Was such a good trip. Situated in a little oasis of green among the mountains. The service was great, the food was a lovely mixture of french and moroccan with a changing menu every day. As a place to relax at the end of a marrakech stay it simply couldn't rate it higher. It may not be the silver service establishment that some would like, but its full of charm, warm service and is utterly relaxed environment.

Abdoul and his friendly staff were so helpful, and very kind with our children. We had a lovely room with a great terrace, and beautiful gardens with mountain views beyond. The pool was clean and bracing, the breakfasts with fresh juice and pastries delicious, and the gardens were great for the children to run around in. The trekking that Abdoul arranged was terrific. Thank you!

Our stay was part of a prepaid guided visit to the Atlas from a base in Marrakech. The bungalow was pleasant enough though the lighting was low (hard to read). The grounds were quite impressive; a lot of work has been done to create terraced gardens around the bungalows. The pool area was attractive but it was too cold to swim during our stay. The terrace area has a lovely view over the surrounding countryside.
The food was very disappointing. It seemed more French than Moroccan - although tagines and other Moroccan dishes were offered - and was just not very good. Service at breakfast was spotty.

Thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay in La Bergerie. We found it easy to find and it's not a bad drive by Moroccan standards from Marrakesh - one relatively strightforward pass to negotiate. We stayed in one of the cottages for the first night but then got upgraded to a garden suite (thank you i-Escape!) and both were excellent although I would go for the latter if you can afford it. The food was not really the resturant's strong point but it was pefectly fine. The views from the hotel over the Atlas mountains which provide a 360 degree panorama were truly stunning, as were the landscaped gardens and the sparkling outdoor pool. After a nightcap under the stars, we would go to sleep every night to the sound of nightingales...life's hard sometimes, ain't it?

There's not a huge amount to do when you are there (in our three days we had one guided walk and another we sought out for ourselves) but if you are going to be spending a few days in the more intense parts of Morocco (and I'm thinking Marrakesh here) a short stay at La Bergerie provides the perfect opportunity to recharge those batteries.

The service was excellent, the kitchens stayed open until we arrived a little late from the airport and transport was provided, free of charge, for the riding that had been booked a few kilometres away. We were upgraded to a bungalow which was a lovely surprise. The half board meals were lovely, three courses in the evening was nearly always too much! Breakfast was simple, this seems to be fairly standard in Morocco, but the freshly squeezed orange juice was delicious. There were plenty of walking routes easily available, with or without a guide, and the horse riding was lovely, a well behaved and easy to ride horse even if I was a little perturbed at first to be told that they only used stallions.
