“Quaint and lovely”
Reviewed September 11, 2017 for a stay in June 2017

Very close to town and the train station. We spend 2 weeks here every time we visit France. Biking is great ( but uphill on the way home) SAturday market is fun. Excellent restaurants and wonderfully friendly people. Few tourists. The cottage is charming with all the very latest modern conveniences in the kitchen and bathroom. You will love it!!

I am gald that you still enjoy returning to our cottage every year that you return to France for a holiday, that really speaks volumes! You are right, the town is not on the tourist trail and the locals are friendly and helpful. There is plenty to do, and cycling is easy as most routes follow the Loire.(yes, it is a bit of an uphill street to the cottage) Makes that glass of wine a little more rewarding!

“Wish we had stayed longer!”
Reviewed October 1, 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Wonderful little cottage in a a picturesque little town!
Maison Vauyon is well appointed, spacious and within easy walking distance to the entire magical town of La Charite sur Loire.
There are many shops to explore, and cafes and restaurants to enjoy. I have travelled extensively throughout France these past twenty years, but I can honestly say that I have never enjoyed a town as much as this.
Our communication with Linda was nothing less than excellent. My wife and I look forward to returning someday.

“Cute stone cottage close to centre of town”

Great place to stay and just a short walk into centre of town. Completely renovated and very comfy. Owners were not there but left a great itinerary for travelling the area. Loved it.
Hot water was an issue having a shower. Scalding hot or non existent. Needs some adjustment. Couldn't get tv working at all. Overall, a wonderful place to stay and a fantastic town.

I'm glad that you enjoyed the town and staying in our cottage.
Thanks for the note about the shower, we are having it replaced this fall so it won't be an issue in the future. As with the TV, it just takes a bit of patience to learn a new system...this is France after all.
All the best,
Linda

“A real french experience”

The perfect gite for couples to experience the French way of life located very near to the centre of the medieval town of La Charite Sur Loire. There are plenty of restaurants, boulangeries and shops etc. just a short walk away and La Charite has a passion for music. Street festivals are not uncommon.
The gite is charmingly characteristic with it's quirky layout. It has a wine cellar, a small terrace, a spacious ground floor bathroom with a modern walk-in shower and spiral-like staircase to the almost suspended bedroom and en-suite. Despite it's medieval feel, it has all the mod cons you could need with a modern fridge-freezer, large cooker, wifi, flatscreen TV, DVD player, etc.
The owner provided us with lots of information via email and genuinely cared that we had the best time possible.
It is a great base for cycling, wine-tasting, canoeing, visiting chateaux, fishing or just relaxing.
We had a great time - thanks

Making your stay enjoyable is very important to us, that is why I have put together this binder of self-guided day trips in the area. I'm glad that you enjoyed the village and the other local recommendations. I had fun putting this together, I am now working on a few other ideas, any comments from past guests would be welcome.
