I've been in this restaurant several times.
Gabriella and Luca are very nice people with outstanding food knowledge.
Perhaps, one of the best restaurants in the area.Without doubt.

Though the decoration is all right this is not what you 'll remember from this place but unfortunately the price you've paid for 2 fillets of fish ,olive oil and salt !!
They show you a whole fish and it comes in two little pieces on your plate while the fish was huge . Of course you still pay a fortune.
Beware also of the suggestions of the day described in detail , extremely disappointing to taste but there again absurdly expensive for what it is !
This place is a rip off for tourists to be avoided at all cost

We have been in Sicily for 4 nights, in Noto and Taormina, and our experience of restaurants has been excellent. We selected this restaurant from TA. We have also travelled widely in Italy. We visited Al Galu on a Tuesday evening in October, out of season. When we arrived it was empty but soon there were 2 other tables both of which were Italian locals. For some reason which was undoubtedly a language problem we were discouraged from ordering from the menu. We had decided on the carpaccio of fish for antipasti but were not allowed to order it, and then we found that we could not order the prima course either, being offered only the catch of the day. No antipasti, no prima. We were confused, having had normal 3 couse meals everywhere else that we went. We assumed that the kitchen was not working as normal, the restaurant being empty. But no! The other tables ordered from the menu and got their antipasti and prima. So for some reason we were being discriminated against. The fish (sea bream) was lovely but was served with salt (20 flavours) - not so good if you have high blood pressure like I do. The wine which I liked the look of (pink fizzy 36 euro) was replaced with local pink fizz 15 euro. It was a poor alternative. The sea bream cost us 70 euro - yes that was SEVENTY euros just for the fish, and any reputable restaurant would not have allowed us to select that fish for 2 people. It was served with olive oil and salt, and salt, and salt. It was the worst meal that we have had for a long while, and completely incomprehensible why we were not offered the food that others were enjoying. My strong advice would be to avoid this restaurant under any circumstances. Do not go there!

We went to Al Galu on the recommendation of our B&B owner. On arrival the Restaurant seemed full but the extremely warm and friendly owner found us a table. What an amazing meal we had. We started with their "crudomania", about 10 different variations on raw fish served on a gorgeously decorated plate. This was followed by grilled lobster with 6 mayonnaise sauces (coffee and raspberry were two of them) and many different salts. All was cooked to perfection and the accompanying grilled vegetables were delicious. As everywhere in Sicily, when asked for wine recommendations, we received a reasonably priced (always delicious) wine. The restaurant is run by a husband (chef) and wife (maitre d') team. The wife is amazing, making everyone feel like a preferred guest. Need we say anymore, the fact that we promptly reserved dinner for the next evening says it all. My limoncello was graciously on the house. The waitresses are lovely, smiling and attentive and this really added something special to both evenings there.

My family and I enjoyed a wonderful meal here. My husband and I enjoy eating well, and we typically get a babysitter in order to do so. On vacation, though, babysitters aren't always available, and so we took a big chance and took our children (twin three-year olds and an eight month old) with us last night. I can say that we would have been happy to go to this restaurant as a couple and would have left satisfied and pleased with the meal, ambience, and service. But our experience as a family was simply amazing. The owner and servers went above and beyond to welcome us (always smiling--genuinely!, consistently referring to our children by their names throughout the meal, preparing the kids' meals first so that we could help them and then focus on our food when it arrived, providing coloring papers and pencils for the children, etc...), and the food was really spectacular. Inventive, local, and tasty. Highly recommend this lovely spot.
