The experience in Scicli B&B is exactly what the best we can hope: the taste of a real life style in Sicily, and only the best part of it. The B&B is located in a small lovely uphill street, we have to go through a rock tunnel to get to the house. There was a nice front yard that was full of greens and flowers even in December. Our neighbors were so friendly and made us feel we’re part of them.
And the room…our 4-bed room is actually a one-bedroom apartment! It’s not giant, but really cozy and spotless! Clean without a hotel smell. The sheets, the bathroom, the cooking counter, even the rugs, everywhere is as clean as it can be. The shower was so nice with great water pressure. We, including our 2-year-old son, slept great every night.
From the first moment, our host Massimo has shown how much he cares about his guest. He did his best in every detail to fulfill our needs. He even found us an interpreter before we arrive to help us parking and finding the hotel. We requested 2 bikes and a childseat, and they’re there in the yard when we arrived. He gave us warm suggestions of where to visit in Scicli and after that. My son enjoyed the greeting cookies and crackers in the room, and we enjoyed the free bottled water in the fridge—not every B&B host is so thoughtful!
I especially want to thank Massimo for the breakfast. Initially I wasn’t sure about have to have breakfast in a different location. But the B&B itself was in a center location for appreciating the beauty of Scicli. The 2-minute walk to the breakfast is through the best part of the town: Piazza Italia and Palazzo Beneventano. And it is on the baroque street Via Francesco Mormina Penna. The breakfast place is actually one of the best restaurant in Scicli that is facing the beautiful St. Giovanni and Via Mormino Penna which is the set of the police headquarter of the famous TV series on Commissioner Montalbano. Massimo greeted us there every morning and ordered food and drink for us. We enjoyed the cappuccino, the fresh fruits, and the typical pastry desert of Scicli. The canoli there was the best I’ve ever had.
We invited Massimo to visit us in the future, because we really think we made a new friend in Scicli.
