“Thanks for a wonderful weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 8, 2013

I had a wonderful time in this beautiful bed and breakfast. The owner always helped us to find nice places to visit, to eat, helped to find a bus and gave us ride. The bedrooms were lovely and it was nice to sit next to the fireplace. I can higly recommend Maison Lacoste.

Room Tip: Just ask the owner. She is very helpful.

Everything we needed for a wonderful few days in the mountains. Especially enjoyed sitting by the log fire at night after enjoying a hearty meal in the farmhouse. Easy drive to Bagnere for the saturday market or to try some of the cosy restaurants in the town, up to La Mongie to ski or Payolle for snowshoeing/cross country skiing. Very charming, cosy bedrooms. Helpful to be able to look at Chris' maps/brochures for finding hikes/restaurants.

Don't hesitate to stay at this charming chambre de'hote. Chris has done an amazing job to create a beautiful authentic French country house. Interior is beautifully appointed and the rooms have everything you need and more. Good breakfast and charming host make for a wonderful stay. Views are terrific and the Campan valley has so much to offer.

Room Tip: All rooms beautifully appointed with unique one-off pieces of furniture.

Elspeth and I had a wonderful 5 day stay in Chris' B&B. It was everything we needed. Comfortable accommodation, a friendly host, a good location with access to nearby towns, villages, mountain passes and walks in the mountains & valleys. Two hours in the Spa baths chilling out set the scene for stunning drives.

This beautiful B&B at the foot of the Tourmalet and Aspin passes in the Pyrenees offered every comfort I could have asked for. The house itself has bags of character all of which has been wonderfully preserved and (added to) by Chris' careful and sympathetic renovations.
I stayed for two weeks whilst researching the passes of the Tour de France and Chris' hospitality was warm and friendly, even extending to lending me volumes of old cycling magazines she had uncovered in the loft.
Every night I enjoyed a wonderful three course meal, often inspired by the local cuisine, all of which was delicious and great value.
The house is in a great location. Just 12km or so from the ski-resort of La Mongie for winter skiiing (or snowboarding if Chris has her way!) and close to all the famous pyrenean passes for cycling or walking in summer. An ideal and comfortable base for a mountain adventure.

This chambre d'hôte nestled at the bottom of the Pyrénées is delightful. Chris' hospitality really is second to none. The accommodation itself is clean, airy, bright and comfy. What is particularly special about this house is all the pieces of unique antique furniture - every room has been furnished uniquely. The garden & balcony offer lovely places to sit in the sun after a busy day and Chris even has a swinging chair & hammock she will lend you which are very comfy! I have to mention Chris' cooking skills - AMAZING! We stayed half board and Chris cooked us (& other guests most nights) a fantastic 3 course meal every night for the time we wanted. The food was healthy, tasty & used regional products - everything was scrumptious! The breakfasts were too! The house is equipped with books and information about the area and Chris is very knowledgable too. We stayed here for the Tour de France & it was a fantastic location for the Pyrénéen stages plus the ski resorts. Chris went out of her way to make sure our every need was catered for and we really are thankful for you having such a wonderful place to stay during our holiday. Thank you!!!!!!

Chris Sheppard's newly-renovated Bigorrdian farmhouse is ideally located for the ski, or summer walking and cycling scene, for Campan, Payolle and Tourmalet, and very close to the town of Bagneres de Bigorre. (special rates have been negotiated for guests wanting to hire ski equipment at the nearby rental place). This itself would be recommendation enough but it's a cosy and peaceful oasis of comfort and good living; Chris' own long experience in the hotel and catering trade have made their mark on the quality of accommodation and catering on offer. Whilst close to the road, there is no intrusive traffic noise. Apart from all the services a big town like Bagneres can offer close at hand there are the villages of Campan and Baudean withing short walking distances. Ask Chris for a freshly caught trout from the Lesponne river, local brebis cheese or the local jambon sec and you will not want to leave !
