“Certainly different”

St Matthew's Church - Glass Church
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed February 7, 2013

Once we found it, parking was easy and free access to church (donation)
Interesting story - have to go there!
Certainly the largest pieces of Lalique you are likely to see and be able to touch.

This is a unique small church on the South coast of Jersey. It's claim to fame is that it is filled with examples of Lalique glass. Almost anything that can be modelled from glass is. If you are a glass lover, this is the place for you. Good parking and access. An experience to be enjoyed at least once.

Hidden away between 2 roads this is worth a visit as the glass is strangely beautiful. Good for a rainy day it will only take up a few minutes but is worth the stop

The glass in this church is by Lalique and it is stunning - some of our party were disappointed that it was not coloured but I found that to be the attraction of it. The cross above the altar is particularly impressive, if you are in the area then you really must go in and have a look.

I am a self confessed glass lover but this is a perfect blend of beautiful Lalique glass that you can observe close to and appreciate in its design and also in a beautiful calm atmosphere. Don't be put off by the appearance of the outside of the church- just go in, take a deep breath and get moved by the atmosphere
