Fantastic view but what a steep slope to get up!! Great villa with a decently sized swimming pool. Kids thoroughly enjoyed it.
Our family of five needed some serious chill out time after a hectic three week rugby tour of New Zealand and Baan Gina perfectly hit the spot. Devastatingly beautiful panoramic views from high up in the hills yet only a 10/15 minute drive from Chaweng beach meant we could wallow luxuriously in the villas two pools by day before dipping into the craziness of Koh Samui's famous strip nightlife each evening.
All communication prior to the trip was handled promptly and efficiently by owner Manu and it was reassuring to have guest manager Joy nearby if any issues arose. The two villa staff Snow and Maew were very sweet and charming and cooked us a fabulous Thai meal one night for a set fee plus of around £40 plus food costs. The minivan and driver Mr Khai is on call if required and although probably more expensive than a local taxi (500 baht to Chaweng beach and 600 to Fishermans Villlage) we felt it was worth it for the ease and reliability. There is very little in the way of shops within walking distance of the villa so we picked up any stuff we needed in the 7-11 stores downtown at night.
The villa itself was clean, airy, well equipped and mercifully well air-conditioned. Quirky murals on the walls meant quality instagram material for our teenage daughters and the en suite wet rooms off each bedroom were spacious and modern. We were able to access Netflix and You tube on the large flatscreen TV which was handy.
Some low level lighting in the form of lamps in the living room might have been nice as the ceiling lighting was a bit stark at night. One other small point also is that we were occasionally aware of noise from building going on sites adjacent and behind the villa but it didn't really detract from our experience. Baan Gina is a well run operation and that view, particularily at sunrise, is absolutely priceless.
Awesome views from the villa and we could see sunrises every morning. clean and comfortable beds and good butler service (kudos to Snow and Maew they really aim to please), food served was delicious fare and authentic Thai. We were only a party of 5, but the villa is with 4 big queen size beds in each room which can easily fits up to 8 pax comfortably. Highly recommended.
We didn't want to leave Baan Gina. I have stayed in villas a few times but this was a unique villa with some really cool, flavorful wall art/painting. Highly recommended if you want something out of the ordinary.
The villa was worth every single cent cos it was so nice. We had a great few days and the workers were extremely nice - they also cooked amazingly, we ordered a BBQ and it was big and delicious. I will never go back to a 'normal' hotel again.
Where do I begin? We got into Koh Samui unfortunately the weekend when the country was in mourning, so the entertainment was limited all across the place. Thank heavens for this gorgeous property that we booked. Four bedrooms, two pools and a view to die for. We were picked up by the villa taxi and Manu the owner, received us at the house. We had his staff Snow and Meaw who were simply wonderful, always at our disposal and ready to help us figure everything. Their English isn't very good but they mostly get what is required and for the rest you can call the manager Jazz, who would help with everything. She was on her holiday but was available on the phone to solve any problem. The view from the villa is something I can't stop raving about. Two rooms on the top floor and two rooms at the basement. One of the top floor room opens up to the swimming pool and has a great view while the other room has the back view. The rooms at the bottom floor are larger. There is a huge gym and a lounge area in the basement floor too. The air conditioners in each room work well and the water is always hot for a nice shower. The bathrooms are well designed and super spacious. They provide for toiletries as well. The linens are changed once every three nights. We partied hard at the villa the first night but we woke up to an amazing breakfast spread and a super clean villa the very next morning.
Some of the cons are: The power in the villa went off on our last day for about five hours and there was no back up or water. But Jazz tried to get things fixed as soon as possible. Though not having water was a bit of an issue, and being hungover and sorting the water issue wasn't a very holiday experience.
The villa is on the hills so be ready to shell out 500 baht every time you want to go to chaweng and 600 to lamai. But the good thing is the villa driver is available 24 hours at your disposal. Be it at six am or three pm, all you have to do is call him. However we easily spent a good amount of money on travel to and from the villa.
One other con was the restaurants across the villa. Though there are some great options, we didn't particular enjoy the Thai food at the Sunrise resort. The Thai food around chaweng is way better. So spend the extra five hundred and go to Chaweng to eat.
Would I stay here again? In a heartbeat. This was the highlight of our trip.
Not walking distance to the beach or shopping centers and had to rely on expensive shuttle services. But the view was amazing and the rooms were great.
