I try and be as honest as I can in my reviews in the hope that it really helps others make the right choice. I really wanted to fall in love with this hotel (spending my last few nights in Thailand there with my sister) as on the website it looks so beautiful....however, I was disappointed by the reality.

The rooms are nice and spacious with aircon and the bathrooms are rather vast in size with a shower and great bath. Having said this, there are no doors on the bathroom (just thin curtains) which can be irritating if you want some privacy when using the loo.

The breakfast includes everything you could want from an all inclusive but overall, the food is pretty average during the daytime/evening and is very costly with both a service charge and VAT added to every purchase which is highly avoidable in Thailand.

The biggest disappointment was this...if you don't get a beachside room, you must cross over the road to an ugly block to your rooms and its about a 7 minute walk to the big beach and pool which is half of the attraction of the place. There are plenty of other slightly smaller resorts that are on the beach which don't have this inconvenience.

Staff were not entirely rude but quite unfriendly.

Note though that the beach its situated on is nice with lots of little bars etc to chill on in the evening. This does have nothing to do with the hotel though and so paying this price, I would go for a smaller hotel further down the beach!!

After travelling around thailand and vietnam for 3 weeks we booked this hotel on Koh Samui for relaxation and sunbathing. That is exactly what we got. The hotel is close to the town centre which is about 10 minutes walk. It is very quiet during the day so you can relax and do your oown thing. The pool was great and we don't usually stay around the pool on holiday we usually prefer the sea. The pool however was right on the beach. You have a bit more space than on the beach in our opinion. The beach is very pretty. The sea is stunning but is very shallow far a fair distance. The hotel itself is very clean. We stayed in a room 'over the road' but this was perfect for us. The rooms were really nice, the bathroom was oped planned and very nice and big.
The mosquitos do exist here but i wouldnt say any more than the rest of Thailand. You just have to remember to put spray on in an evening. They didn't appear when you were around the pool/ sea but they were around the garden area mainly. We booked through Hotels.com and paid £660 for 8 nights which i thought was really good. The food and drink in the hotel is overpriced but there are 4-5 restaurants on either side of the hotel which were fantastic. We ate here everynight before heading into town for drinks!
We would return to this hotel if we went bk to Samui!

One of the best hotels on the island. For couples or families its unbeatable, the only thing is the price. We paid 6500 a night but for one of the best rooms. Swimming pool is great can swim all night, along the beach from great reataurents, would highly recommend on staying here! Great staff and location thanks kandaburi!

My partner and I stayed at the Kandaburi in July and on our return to Sydney I was hospitalized with Dengue Fever. I am certain I got it from this hotel as got bitten many times from Mosquitoes while staying there despite wearing Mozzie repellent. As others have mentioned, the lily ponds are a breeding ground for Mosquitoes and it's highly irresponsible of this hotel to have them when Mosquitoes transmit diseases such as Dengue Fever. I saw many other guests at this hotel covered in bites. I've also emailed the hotel and had no response.

Despite getting Dengue, we really enjoyed our holiday on Koh Samui and by far the best thing about this hotel was the location. Not too far to walk into Chaweng and lovely chilled out beach bars just nearby, however there are other hotels that looked better in the same area. As for the rest of the hotel, it's really average for the money, I've stayed at much better places in Thailand in the same price range. It just seems to have a very tired feeling about it and in need of an update. Breakfasts were okay but again not nearly as good as we've had in other hotels and loads of flies around the food. If you do decide to stay at this hotel, smother yourself in Mozzie repellent, I would not want anyone else to go through what I just did.

Dear Sydneyukgirl,
We are truly sorry to hear of your Dengue fever, and trust that you have made a full recovery.
Kindly note that as a responsible hotel we naturally take the health and safety of our guests very seriously. This includes mosquito control. All water features in the hotel, including the lotus ponds, are full of fish, frogs and water snails. Mosquito larvae do not stand a chance.
Nevertheless, mosquitos are a fact of life in the tropics. It is important to cover up and use repellent during dusk in particular. Guests choosing to take one of the numerous 1/2 or full day "safari" tours on Samui should also take precautions.
Thanks

Rooms are a great size. Huge bedroom and on-suite. Very pleasant, just could do with a minor update as some of the wardrobes had handles missing. TV is a little dated but still served it's purpose. Beds are a bit hard. Some of the resort staff have trouble understanding and some times it is a challenge to make yourself understood. Pool is a reasonable side just make sure you reserve a spot with a towel early as they tend to go. The are seats on the beach as well, take the ones away from the drain.

Room Tip: We stayed in the beach side rooms which was convenient and close to the major pool. They have a reas...

Great location only a 10 minute walk to chaweng village along clean white beaches with only a few friendly hawkers . Stayed on beach side of resort which I prefer to staying on other side of the road. Would highly recommend!
