Went during the renovation but still loved it

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Sep 19, 2012
We booked 2 nights here and came with another couple. We enjoyed our stay albeit the renovation still going on full swing. The only set back is the noise in the morning as we like to sleep in late, if you are an early bird it would be ok. However I am sure when they are ready, its going to be amazing.

Stated at pool view rooms, which are spacious and clean. Love the modern feel it has and the superb bed. Would definitely go back again.

Sea is nice deep and soothing, great for a swim and laying there all day. Restaurant has a lovely view but food is only average but the staff is lovely.
Date of stay: September 2012
Room Tip: If you can stay at the seaview room, looking from the sea to those room with the hammocks and...

Upon arrival we discovered that the poolside was closed due to the big renovation. Due to this the offered us an upgrade to a seaview room, which we apprciated. The seaview room was great, spacious, especially the bathroom and ofcourse the view is stunning. Nice balkony with deckchairs and a hammock. You can literly almost jump in the sea from you bed :- ) F&B overall is good and nice prized. We believe that when the renovations are done this is a great resort to stay at in Samui!

Review from couple in our 20s, who enjoy relaxing in the sun, good food and night life but with the option of peace a quiet...

Pros-
Our room was beautifully clean, great air con, spotless bathroom and fantastic bed. Movie channels to watch before an afternoon nap! The food was delicious and the staff were friendly and hard working. Service with smile. Amazing beach- at the quieter end. The sea is fantastic.

Cons-
Construction on the site, which we weren't informed about. Hammering and drilling behind our room at 9am. So, felt disappointed by this. We booked a superior room. It was a deceiving as it had a 'garden view', but was basically facing a wall. There wasn't a pool as that was also under going work. Also not, there are only 3 rooms with that sea view they boast. Check before booking.

It's at the quiet end of chaweng beach with the best view and beach. You can get a taxi up the road for dirt cheap or walk if you want a night out. If you're looking for clubs on your door step, this isn't the one. But, for the laid back beach holiday i'd reccomend with, the cons in mind. Don't pay over £60 (saw the same room I booked for that price).

I paid £30 a night and it included breakfast for 2. So, despite my complaints, we got a great deal. The hotel will be fantastic when the work is complete but if you're going anytime from August 2012 for a few months after, expect noise which will disturb your sleep.

No Reception at check in and water wasnt working and wasnt possibly to have a shower. The toilet leaked water onto the floor none of the photos from the internet site were accurate. No Pool still when it was suppose to be finished renovation and still looked like it wont be finished anytime soon. Poor breakfast everyday we had problems with the kitchen staff getting our orders incorrect. Would not refund back the money so we could go to another hotel. Would not even pay 500baht for this hotel you are better of staying in a better location more central and would have proper flowing water. Did not look like a hotel just a construction site will upload photos to prove so advise you to look if your considering

Room tip: only beach bungalows no others do not book anything else apart from that..

we had 3 nights booked for this hotel with a group of 8 people! Before booking I checked the hotel website to browse at the gallery and the rooms available. I Booked through expedia as it was cheaper then the hotel website. After arriving from a long bus/ ferry ride from phuket we realised before we checked in that we had book pool view rooms and the pool was under construction. We were not notified of this what so ever however the lady at the front desk stated that we should have checked the website. There was no reason why I would check the website once I had already booked. The lady at reception had no interest in trying to rectify the problem and had no sympothy for us in that we had paid extra for a room because of the pool view and there was not pool. She was very rude and was more then happy to see us go to another hotel. We ended up moving to chaba samui hotel which we paid a little more for but it was well worth it! it was right in town with very nice staff. Baan talay is very far from town. save yourself the trouble and book chaba samui
