Centara Grand Beach Resort Samui

We stayed here for 2 weeks from June 11th in a pool suite. We'd stayed previously in 2006 as a Central prior to Centara conversion. Everything was perfectly relaxing and quiet with no noisey people about and relatively few kids.
As usual beach was pure tropical tranqulity and the option to head back for a cool dip in our own pool made this holiday. Room was great and as decor as expected with very sound proffed walls which israre these days. I think these people that moan are used to these clinical featureless modern places. If you want that stay at the Library, the Centara is as it states in the title 'Grand' not modernistic. Thats why we love this place and will return again.
Can well recommend Jumbo rental agrage about 400 yrds up the street for bike hire rather than some of the dodgy onstreet hirers and best value for quality food is Chillis about 50m past macD's. Check out their thai steak offer, was perfect filet steak couldnt se point in paying double for Aus/NZ steak. Also check out the locoal market just past Brazilian, most nights for cocktails stalls at 50B a pint and 'made in front of you' pad thai.
Only small things to be aware off are the hard beds (pretty standard in thailand i think) mozzys outside room so spray well, anoying flies around the breakfast area and long queue for a fried egg because of all these omellete lovers.
Other than that we would seriously consider going back to this hotel for a third time (tommorow if i could) in the very near future.

Room Tip: Pool suite but dont bother with Club. It looked boring

First of all the hotel is amazing in terms of rooms, service, staff friendliness and facilities.
everything was so clean and neat and my wife and i had the pleasure of staying there.
Second thing i want to thank the hotel management for helping me with all they could when we arrived at the hotel for providing a car that took us to the hospital when my wife was sick because of something she ate in Phuket the night before and once we returned to the room we found a flower bouquet and a get well soon card with my wife's name on it...that was a lovely touch and i will always remember it and will always recommend the hotel to friends and family.
again thank you very much

Room Tip: The Suites with the pools are amazing

Stayed here for 11 nights to celebrate honeymoon and would return again without hesitation! Ideal location within steps of the hustle and bustle, yet quiet enough to be away from it all. Situated on a beautiful part of chaweng beach and only 10 minutes from airport. Pool area is beautiful and food/spa lovely. Seems to be a family orientated resort with lots of facilities for children. Would highly recommend!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on level 2 above to get good ocean views, ground floor rooms I imagine would be noisy...

Having just come back home following a 2 week holiday in the last 2 weeks of June I can only say positive things about the Centara Grand. The resort seems to be the largest on Cheweng beach and has the best part of the beach where the water is crystal clear and plenty of space to relax on the beach. We also had the bonus of there not being a drop of rain throughout the 2 weeks during the day and only one tropical storm one evening.

The hotel itself is very clean and tidy and the staff always polite and happy to help. The rooms are the only part of the hotel that needs inproving as they were slighly small and a need of decorating. This wasnt much of an issue as its was still clean and tidy and wouldn't put me off coming here. We had a room on the 3rd floor right in the middle which was a great location, and apparantly the difference in price from "Deluxe Ocean View" and "Premium Deluxe Ocean View" is the location of the room.

The hotel is also at the quieter end of Chaweng, which had plenty of bars and resturants and was ideal for us. We could also jump on a truck to get to the more lively end of Chaweng in 5 minutes or so if we wanted to, and did a few times. It only cost £3 or £150 Baht for 2 people. Ark bar is a good bar down there and on the beach.

I can confidently say that if i ever came back to Samui, which i'm sure I will, that i would book the Centara Grand again. There were so many people we spoke to who have been back time after time again which says a lot about the resort. Where the bad reviews come from I have no idea but Ignore them.

Room Tip: Higher floors for the view are better. Blocks 5 and 6 are the most central to the lobby, restaurants...

The best part about Centara Grand, Chaweng is its beautiful beach. This part of the bech is very clean, with white sand and lovely water. Centara Grand is smack on the beach, has a lovely pool & kids club (recrectional area) as well. We went there with our two children and we all loved it. The staff is very friendly, especially a chap named Bong. He manages the kids club and organises activities for kids daily. My daughter particularly enjoyed the candle making activity. Breakfast is very good with a vast choice. We however used to walk down to the main Chewang area every night as we felt that is more happening. One can also take the taxi. If you find the spa at the hotel a bit pricy (which usually is the case), just walk on the beach towards the left and you will find cheaper message places.

Room Tip: Our room was on the ground floor closer to the pool and the breakfast area. This made it easier for...

Been back for a few days now and am wishing I was still there. We got there early in the morning for a 10 day stay and were checked in at the Club area as we had club inclusions. We were given iced tea and cold towels. Our room was not available till the afternoon which was fine as we spent time on the beach which has beautiful white silky sand and a water temp of 28 Celsius. Superb!
The beach vendors are friendly and mostly very respectful of the fact you're on holiday and may not want to be interrupted. We enjoyed the fact that the beach is not private and therefore not the same day in day out with regard to the people who use the beach for swimming or selling. There is also an exclusion zone for water craft right in front of the hotel.

Our room was a deluxe pool room which though unrenovated was very pleasant with excellent air conditioning and a great bathroom. Yes, the tiles need to be replaced and cabinets possibly updated but this is a minor issue I think.if I do have a complaint about our room it would be the bed which was as hard as sleeping on the floor despite a cover over the mattress. It's something we got used to, but would like a softer bed next time!

Meena and Sammai were amazing and outstanding in the club! They were always there to fill up a glass and made us feel very spoilt, something we were definitely not used to at home but could easily get used to! Having the Internet available in the club area and in our room was necessary for us and appreciated.

Breakfast at the hotel was more than enough with great variety. At night we only ate at the hotel a couple of times, preferring to eat at a small restaurant called Crystal most nights. Absolutely delicious and no problems with tummy upsets.

We definitely want to go back to this hotel for longer and would recommend it

I used to believe its boring to return to the same hotel...before I discovered the Centara Grand !

We have now returned many times and are clearly we are never disappointed or taken for granted. Yet every visit is a little different. This year we had the Regatta, a short visit to Koh Tao, some new restaurants and markets and this year it was a great benefit to have the free wifi in the Clubroom which always had an excellent connection.

The things we can't find consistenly elsewhere is the combination a the things that are important to us in a holiday.
The south end of Chaweng beach is one of the best in the World, powder white sand with very gently sloping aqua sea to cool off in. Huge gardens just behind the beach to sunbathe in and never seem crowded. (Glad I don't sell books- everyone seemed to have Kindle's this year!).The hotel has a wonderful homely but majestic vibe about it and a huge choice of restaurants just a stroll from the hotel. Comfy beds but most of all is the friendliness of the staff who are quick to smile as you pass them and eager to please which makes you feel so welcome.
When you return to a place you get some lovely little routines going like returning from the beach for showers, glass of wine on the balcony and another chapter of the book as the sun goes down.
Missing that already.
The air-con in the 2 fitness rooms has improved, so we spent more time in them and actually returned from a 2 week+ holiday fitter and lighter ! ( inspite having greedily overeaten at the hotel's Italian evening).
Having returned to very wet spell of weather in the Scotland, we are already planning next year's holiday which no doubt will have more interesting changes.

Room Tip: The Clubrooms on the top have a bath and free wifi while most other rooms have showers.
