Nora Beach Resort and Spa

This resort was recommended to us from a couple that stayed here for their honeymoon. I'm not sure what type of room they stayed in, but we stayed in a standard room and would rate our experience as average.

Here are a few specifics:
*Service: Check-in and check-out was great. We didn't have to touch our bags at all and got a nice tour of the room when we checked in. Getting recommendations on dining, activities, or spas was tough. The language barrier made it a bit difficult and we had to do our own research vs. going on recommendations from the resort. For this price, we normally expect more help in making choices for activities. All staff was as helpful as they could be though and very nice.
*Room: We were staying in a standard room, so we weren't expecting anything over the top but were told that there was an "outstanding view" from our room. When we got there, it was on the first floor, right next to the lobby.... so that's a pretty long walk to the beach and there was no view at all, except for people walking by. We asked to be moved and we were accommodated for no charge, which was great. We moved to a second floor room, near the pool. From this one, we had a view of the water, MUCH better. Overall though, the room was pretty outdated - you're paying for the grounds, not for the room. The balcony was nice and big.
*Amenities: The grounds are beautiful - a very quiet garden feel. Lots of trees and flowers at every turn. The pool overlooks the ocean and is right on the private beach in front of Nora. Each day we were there, there was a nice breeze coming off of the water, which was nice to cool you off in the heat. Swim up pool bar is a fun extra. There is a great buffet breakfast in the morning with a lot of variety.
*Location: If you're looking for nightlife at your resort, this isn't the place for you. It is very quiet and peaceful. Very relaxing location, just far enough away from the crowded Chaweng area. Chaweng is close enough though - within 5 minutes you can walk to restaurants and vendors. Easiest way to get in town is to get one of the open back trucks (tuk tuks) for about 100B. Sometimes we could catch one from the resort, otherwise we would just start walking until one went past and have them take us to the center of Chaweng.

The resort was nice, but we don't think it was as amazing as it should have been for the price. Quiet resort though if you're looking for a relaxing getaway pool/ocean-side.

Room Tip: For a standard room: Get on the 2nd or 3rd floor, as close to the pool/beach as you can. From these...

Being honest I expected a better standard. We were booked as part of a wedding party but all received differing rates which were never resolved adequately. The level and standard of service was lacking with unacceptable waits for drink and meal service. Having said that I must comment that the wedding arrangements, food and service was great, just the day to day service in the bar and restaurant were not the best. The other major impact on us was the non availability go the wifi network during part of our stay. This impacted on our ability to relay photos etc of the family wedding back to our family in Australia and UK. Staff provided inconsistent advice about the problem. The resort did not have the level of attention to detail which we expected, it is tired and in need of some work to be at the star rating advertised. One consolation was that the wedding went beautifully.

The resort is not a walking distance into town. You need a taxi. Resort offers only 3 free trips, rest they charge for.

The rooms are very spacious with great bathroom.

There's only one pool which is always busy however the beach is right in front of it. The beach is great.

I stayed at the Nora beach resort for 4 nights. This was in August last year, it was off season time so i got the rooms cheap too. I had booked the Nora Villa for 2 nights and the Pool Villa for 2 nights. The Nora Villa itself was good, but the Pool Villa was too good. The living room and bed room were humongous. It was like living in your own independent property. You can jump into the pool from the living room. The only flaw i could see was the lighting outside around the pool. Its not as bright and colourful as you see in the hotel website. The room sevice was good and so was the housekeeping. The ambience was good, the entire layout of the restaurant was good with candle light dinner. A good romantic place and would also be good for family vacations too. The pool was clean and so was the entire property. It would be good if they could add a few more dishes in the restaurant menu, but again this would be the same in most of the hotel properties in Thailand. Overall i would say i had a really good stay here with my wife, the attitude of the entire staff working there was good and i would surely make another trip to the Nora Beach resort and Spa this year.

After we booked our holiday, i would check trip advisor reviews on nora beach all the time and it really helped so id like to tell u about my experience and just so u kno i am no princess!!!!
My boyfriend and i (both 22) stayed in a nora villa for 10 nights in Feb.. It was both of our first trips overseas... When we arrived, the staff were friendly amd helpful... We then got offered to move resorts to nora buri for 2 nights as nora beach were overbooked then when we came back we would be in an ocean pool villa.. We thought it sounded like a bit of a scam so we decided to stay in our nora villa as had planned...
Our room had a very hard bed and we had to get 2 pillow top mattresses to help it was like cardboard..
There was ants in our room for the whole 10 days and we kept our villa spotless..
Old very outdated tv..
The pool menu/cocktails isnt very optional and most days we had no sunlounges as they were all taken..
The shuttle bus from nora to chaweng should always be free not 50 baht at night!!
Buffet breakfast was great lots of options but half the time the food was cold!!!!
Oh and WIFI, being young adults we were constantly on our phones and we have children back in aus that we wanted to speak to and we didnt have wifi for 3 whole days...
We did overall enjoy our stay but we wouldnt be staying here again.. I dont believe it is a '4 star resort' it is very old..
We did enjoy swimming in the pool and shopping in Chaweng though!!!
Also, our favourite part of our trip was friday night fishermans market in Bophut!!!!

Hope this helps!!!

Arrived here in February 2013 and can honestly say it is the nicest place we have ever stayed!!!

We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis, my boyfriend adored the omelette bar and definitely made use of the luxurious breakfasts. We had a free dinner here which was also very nice however there was a lot of fish in the buffet which neither of us actually eat, drinks were very expensive but if you catch the ladyboy dance show it was a laugh.

On our first night we ordered room service, cost about £20 for two mains and two drinks - lovely food however be prepared to have to hound reception to take the plates away. Ours sat outside our room for 2 days and the hallways was covered with ants by the time it finally got taken away - ants did get killed though so were not a nuisance.

Cleanliness is brilliant, rooms, towels, poolside etc - all lovely!!!

Rep was very pushy however I must say we do two tours here, one with him and one direct from a tout and would definitely suggest pay the extra and use him.
