“Amazing Hotel, Would definately go back.”
Reviewed June 30, 2011

Myself and my partner booked 3 nights at the Chaweng Regent whilst on a three week backpacking tour of Thailand. The hotel was a treat to ourselves and was one of the higher range ones we booked, however we got a very good deal via Expedia. We booked a bungalow, however when checking in we were told that this was fully booked....but they had upgraded us. The check in process was very quick and the staff were the friendliest we encountered in Thailand. We were escorted to our room and were very impressed, it was large, clean and very tastefully decorated and furnished. Then we walked into the bathroom and were even more impressed, we had a large jacuzzi bath, large shower and the whole bathroom was very clean and also very spacious. Throughout our whole time there we were impressed with the staff's friendliness. The hotel has two pools, one which faces the beach and one within the resort. Both were well kept and clean and each had their own unique charm. The hotel is both on the beach, but also when you walk out the front it is right in the middle of busy Chaweng where you can find lots of bars, restaurants and amazing shopping. I would not hesitate to book this hotel again and would really like to go back in the future.

Just returned from Thailand and thought i would write this review promptly while fresh in our minds. We invited friends with us this time after raving about how wonderful the regent was the last time we came to Thailand. And I have to say, on the behalf of my friends, my partner and myself, thank you guys. Once again you have not let us down. Your resort is an oasis, just what the doctor ordered! Its so nice to come back and find things just how you remember them, even down to the laundry shop across the street( sorry chaweng, its cheaper!) If we were to have a gripe and it is a small one and it doesnt have anything to do with the regent, it was the bloody sky rocket that the guys peddle on the beach, to the tourists. Man were they LOUD! If the Koh Samui council(if it exists) could get rid of them that would be great! Thanks again Regent you are still number 1 in our eyes.

The Chaweng Beach Regent Resort was perfect to end a trip to Thailand. We had previously stayed in Phuket (off the busy Banglar Rd) and were busy enjoying all the day tours & nite activities there. When arriving at Koh Samui we wanted to relax a bit more and this resort is perfect for that. We had a lovely welcoming with a drink. We had previously booked through Deals.com and found the deal was great, we paid $AUD469 for 4 nights (for 2 adults with breakfast, transfers & massage each)...we thought this was a great deal since it was advertised as being reduced from $1699. I wouldn't have paid the full price. Organising to redeem the voucher through the hotel seemed easy via email but we couldnt get a confirmation of the room type immediately, only after more emails to confirm, but all was good at the end. We stayed in a Deluxe Regency Room on the ground level which was nice, looking into the tropical gardens. It included a bed plus day bed, fridge, TV, DVD, safe, bath tub, shower, basin & 2 bottles of free water daily. I thought the lighting in the bathroom was a bit dark & the temperature of the shower water was up & down but nothing to really fuss about. The gardens are well-maintained with ponds & night lights. We weren't happy with paying for the internet but we really didn't need to connect to the outside world for our short stay. We only wanted the internet to confirm our flights due to the possible cancellation of flight due to the recent volcanic ash but the hotel was happy to check flights for us. My partner used the gym & said it was good. We loved the Red Snapper Restaurant, such lovely food & staff, bit expensive (with tax) but a nice treat, and the jazz band in the lounge was a nice touch. Breakfast was filling but average, at one stage, my milk jug at the table had milk that was off, which put me off any coffee at breakfast time. We found the location to be fantastic, easy walking distance to shopping & night life. The pools we really nice, no problem with getting a sun bed and getting a pool side massage was very relaxing. The staff were lovely & we would go back.

The hotel is well placed for all amenities and shopping, taxis are constant so no trouble with transport and very cheap to use. The staff were all friendly and polite at all times . We stayed in a superior Bungalow and found the room adequate for our needs, however it was small and bathroom very dark...The grounds are fantastic with the Koi pools and lots of space to relax either inside or out. always able to get a sun bed at any time of the day...for breakfast there was always lots to choose from, and the resturant for lunch and dinner fab. If you get a chance have a spa day it was gorgeous, a body scrub, body wrap and massage was thoroughly enjoyed. The only down side was the mosquito bites that whatever we did would not keep them away.... my legs looked like a dot to dot picture by te end of the week...

Dear shirley81,

Thank you for your feedback and so sorry to hear about your 'dot to dot' legs!

Inspite of an agressive pest control program, it is certain that in a tropical environment there will be tropical conditions and thus we advise all to wear an appropriate insect repellant to be safe. At this point, I am sure the legs are better.

Beyond, thank you for your feedback and on behalf of the team, I certainly hope we can welcome you to Koh Samui can Chaweng Regent Beach Resort again in the future.

We stayed for 6 nights in a spa villa, the room is very spacious and beautiful, brand new and our room was in front of the pool, very close to the beach and the restaurant! The service of the hotel was also very good, the location is amazing, if you like to go around for some shopping. The breakfast was quite boring and without being changed during our whole stay, the food of the restaurant was good, if you stay at this hotel, try the banana pancake that a young guy sells in front (on the road side, in front of some shops)... It is really AMAZING and makes me miss thailand every evening!

We stayed here in May and had the Superior Rooms which were dark and very small, black bathrooms which were old and made it even darker. We complained and were transferred to a Deluxe room (at our cost) which were a lot nicer.Breakfast was average and overall staff not over friendly but maybe this could be mistaken for shyness. Location was ok but checked other hotels further down the beach and seemed much better. The water at the other end of the beach is nicer as in front of this hotel is and island of mangroves which doesnt allow the water to flow in. Shopping was crap and when you did find something was sooo overpriced compared to Phuket and Bali. Found Samui quite boring and we were only there 6 nights. Personally would not recommend and would not go back.

Dear BALI_FEENS,

I am saddened to read - and read between the lines - that you didn't appreciate the diversity Koh Samui has to offer when compared to other destinations.

Your comments about the shyness of our team and other are also interesting and will be shared among the team to ensure that we do not let our shyness get in the way of guest satisfaction.

Should you decide to give Samui a chance again, it would be our pleasure to welcome you back and point out some of the more cultural and interesting areas on the island. I am sure if you have a chance to experience more than the shopping, you would love the exotic and rustic nature the inner island has to offer!

Stayed at Chaweng Regent for 6 luxurious nights in June 2011.

The resort is located right in the heart of Chaweng beach right at the doorstep of night markets, massage, restaurants, and right on the beach.

We had a Spa Villa and would highly recommend it.

All staff are very friendly, and go out of their way to assist.

As expected, meals and drinks are hotel prices, but take advantage of the happy hours (12-1. And 3-4) or the local venues that have happy hour right on their doorstep.

Only downside is wifi is NOT free, around 20au for 6.5 hrs.

Other venues we would recommend is mambo, a casual 5 min walk down the road with very good food, very well priced.

The are TWO 7elevens very close by for all your supplies.

I love this place and it will always have a special memory as I proposed to my girlfriend in Koh Samui ( she said yes! ) We went to a beautiful place called Ocean 11, around 10mins away, and 250thb by cab.

overall I think you will not be dissaponted with Chaweng Regent!
