“Blue Lagoon Review”
Reviewed January 2, 2013

We stayed at the Blue lagoon for 2 weeks in August with my family we have two children who really liked the pool and the room was a big villa which was right on the beach. Breakfast was ok although when the food ran out, it wasn't replaced. The manger at reception was kind and nice and so was the lady that showed us to our room. It was right next to the beach which was fantastic and all staff were very helpful. The pool was clean and well cleared out a brilliant place for families and couples. Wouldn't go there for over 2 weeks.

Room Tip: If you stay right on the beach often you hear fireworks go of loudly if you stay further back it...

This was our 5th time to samui and have stopped in some great hotels, but now we have our 1 year old we wanted to stay in a central location we read that the hotel was having a bit of renovation work but we were lead to believe that it was almost finished.
Far from it!!!!!!!! When we arrived the first impression was that we were inthe wrong place as it was like a building site, once we checked we got o the room (deluxe) which again first impression was not great as the a/c was old fashioned and a bit grotty we were a bit gutted, they were spacious but the TV was at least 10 years + and the decor was in need of abit paint and new curtains.
We asked what was available as a upgrade and we looked at the beach bungalow which again was big but needs tidying up.
So we stayed where we were.
On the plus side I was in in a good location and only a few minutes walk to the main resorts shops/ bars etc.
The staff are great and very friendly and made a real fuss over the little one, breakfast was good and the pool was lovely once the hotel has gone it needed renovation it has the potential of being something special due to the location and the staff,if you have booked to go then its nice but there is at the minute better places to stop, I really hope that it turns around and gets what it deserves.

When we arrived at the hotel no one was there to welcome or assist us. I have to look around to find a staff to show us where to park our car and asked the way to the reception.
We booked a bungalow double room via asia rooms and they 'forgot' to inform us that this hotel is doing a major renovation which is a bit naughty I think. Among other things the staff seems to be lost and disorganize in check-in.When the lady took us to our bungalow the first thing that welcomed us was the unpleasant damp smell of the room,It was indeed a disappointment! We understand that it has been raining constantly during this month which causes the smell but my husband had a problem with this before and he got really sick. We refuse to stay there and kindly asked for a better room but first the lady said that we have to pay extra if we wish to have an upgrade (when my husband was talking to her she was rolling her eyes with annoyance)We were not happy paying more to get an upgrade for almost the same type of room, the thing is we know we can get the same rate somewhere better, this is not our first time in Samui and we know our way around pretty well. Anyway after all that trouble she finally agreed to upgrade us free of charge to superior room which we are very grateful. Room is nice, spacious and clean but the pillows are a bit hard. Swimming pool is nice and huge. The breakfast area on the beach is pleasingly relaxing.Hotel is conveniently located in Chaweng's nightlife and shopping district.

I gave the Blue Lagoon another go and was pleasantly surprised. The reception area was being rennovated and the hotel looked to be on the up. New aircon in the rooms and the refurbished pool was magnificent - surely the best pool area in Chaweng. The hotel was only about a third occupied so the pool bar wasn't manned, althought he beach bar was and was doing a lot better in the evenings. The restaurant is a really nice building but unfortunately being quite large feels a bit lonely when there's not many people around. The new(ish) management seems to be making a difference being very visible, hands on and pleasant. Breakfast is still good and the position on Chaweng Beach is great. Worth a try when the reception area is completed - probably in about a month. Great to see The Blue Lagoon starting to look good again - and I'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: All the rooms are much the same (on the beach side of the resort.) There are some bungalows on the b...
