“Amari Palm, Koh Samui - Excellent”
Reviewed November 7, 2012

Just got back this morning after staying for 11 nights. The room was excellent (No 3204). It had all of the things you need for a holiday, TV, Safe (free), wardrobe, shower, separate toilet, double bed that was very comfy and clean. The staff came in each day to clean and service the room. Cant say anything bad about it.
Our room was over the road from the main reception which was nice and quiet. To get to the beach we walked about 45 seconds if that. The hotel provides two security staff to walk you across the road if you need to. Its a small road and not very busy but shows the way the hotel thinks about its customers. The breakfast is excellent with lots to choose from. The pools are also clean and well maintained. You can step off the hotel poolside directly onto the beach, and big beach towels are provided. If I was to be critical in any way what so ever, I would say that the hotel provides a beach buffet on a Wednesday night and a live singer / group. The cost was 890 Thai Baht each (about £18 UK pound). Although there was as much food as you could eat, the actual choice of food was not that great. That aside, I cannot fault this hotel at all, and have already looked at re-booking it for next year. An excellent hotel with very very little to complain about, but everything to compliment it. A real real well done from the three of us.

Room Tip: Our room had air con which is a definite must.

Came here in a lowseason, so got a nice price and with just a few guests at the hotel. But. Since the hotelarea is so big, I really dont know how many was here. But I loved it!

I upgraded to Deluxe. It must be worth it. You are far from the road, and the only thing you hear is running water from the garden. Also had the big pool almost for ourself. The hotel is on a quit part of Chaweng, but only a few minutes to walk to the the hart of the main street.

The rooms must be a few years old, but I loved the bathroom!

Room Tip: Deluxe was very nice! Was placed on its own location.

Stayed here for 4 nights in a Junior suite which was well worth the extra spent, just steps away from the beachside pool with a lovely little patio with gorgeous ocean views. Room was large and clean. Bed super comfortable, fridge in room, bathroom enormous with double sink. W ate at the resort every morning for breakfast which had a good variety and had a couple of thai dinners at the resort which we sensational! Also we walked along the entire Chaweng beach and checked out all the other hotels and this is the nicest!

Room Tip: Shell out the extra for a beachside Junior suite - you wont be disappointed!

Set in a beautiful location, the Amari Palm Reef impressed from the outset. Modern yet Thai inspired arcitecture on a beautiful beach backdrop. The staff were extremely friendly the whole time I was there, nothing was too difficult and they were very eager to please.

The room was fantasticly clean with a well stocked mini bar, along with a huge shower and decent sized bath which some 5 star resorts lack.

The beach buffet dinner was a high-light of the stay and an absolute must.

Overall I was extremely impressed with the hotel and its staff, Martin was exeptionally welcoming and introduced me to the in-house restuarant "Prego" which I highly recommend to anyone seeking a world class dining experience.

If you havnt visited Koh Samui before, then this is your place to stay. A pure delight. I will be coming back!

Superb hotel located on the picturesque strech of Chaweng beach on Koh Samui Island.

The hotel is 'cut' in 2 by the main road; we stayed on the far side but in hindsight the better side as it is the quieter side and has it's own pool which is more accessible than the main pool.

The hotel is well managed, the staff are exceptionally friendly, helpful and caring. The food is superb in the main restaurant / bar area and the premises also hosts an Italian restaurant on site which serves beautiful pizza and pasta. The hotel rooms are very cosy and comfortable too, although the room we had contained a very small bathroom with a shower unit only.

The only downfall is the mosquito's in the evening, but this is something that you will need to contend with all over the island, and is something that this or any other hotel can not really control. advise is to carry and use spray.

The rate per night is very reasonable, actually damn cheap for those travelling from UK/EU. (same price per night in this gorgeous hotel and location for what you'd pay for a 2star hole in central London)

I would recommend this hotel to anyone wishing for a comfortable, clean, stress-free break.

I can't say anything bad about Amari except for a few minor details. The staff is very nice and friendly. The breakfastbuffet is good, they also provide sushi and traditional Thai dishes, but sometimes you have to wait 10-15 minutes for your omelet or fried egg because they only have one hot plate. Their lunchmenu is good, with Thai and international dishes. On saturday and mondayevening there is a buffet on the beach. It's a bit expensive, we paid 650 baht each, excl. Drinks. The buffet had a salad bar, some Thai dishes, soup, satay and a few desserts, nothing special. But it is so lovely to eat at the beach, right in front of the sea. They decorate it very nice.
The rooms are clean and big enough. The furniture looks okay.
The chaweng beach is a big disappointment, the water isn't that clear and the beach is not clean. The lamai beach is much prettier. If you want to see the highlights of the island, you can easily do this by yourself by car or moterbike. It only takes a bit more than an hour to drive all the way around.
The location of the hotel is a short walk from the center of chaweng beach, I didn't mind because it's more quiet here.
Overall, not excellent but just okay. A good value for your money.

Thank you all again for a fantastic holiday. Had a great time. We definitely think this is the time to visit, weather is variable, but for us that was great - not unbearable heat each day and the hotel was only around 60% full which was ideal.

Improvements from our last visit - the staff are really making an effort to communicate, and the service in the bar had definitely improved - couple of new faces in there so maybe that was the key.

Food yet again was very good - gardens absolutely wonderful, a credit to all who work on them.

Cant really say any more than I did my first review - thank you all yet again, see you next year

Room Tip: rooms 3221-3228 beside the quiet pool - fab
