Standard rooms are very basic,superior are a bit better , only a empty quilt cover to get covered in bed means you are cold with aircon on or hot with aircon off. Hotel is very quiet ,50 meters from beach .hotel supermarket is very reasonably priced.near to shops ,bars and restaurants and only 10 mins from airport.could do with a kettle in room.

Great location to stay at the north part of Chaweng beach.
Close to shops,restaurants and nightlife but far enough from the noise. Very basic,Good size room but lacks storage and could do with a kettle in the room. Only has a 'wet room' so the toilet and floor is constantly wet. Fresh towels, rooms cleaned everyday. only free drinking water on day one.
The highlight of staying at Rattana is the pool area. Clean, good size pool, gets plenty of sun with a few loungers to relax after a late night or just chillaxing!
I've been coming to chaweng for 15 years as a budget traveller and I think this was my favourite hotel. There seem to be three blocks. One of basic rooms. One of rooms with balcony and several bungalows all around a central garden with a fairly big pool. The atmosphere is extremely relaxed and peaceful with dragonflies, huge butterflies, a puppy and a kitten. Inflatable toys for children bobbed in the pool.
We were happy in our basic room which had ice cold air con, a fridge and a basic TV. The family who owned the hotel were always around smiling and helpful.
Hotel has a very small rustic restaurant which other guests and ourselves used most days and a shop with most essentials right on site. A good stretch of beach was five minutes walk. The centre of the town also about 5 minutes.
It's not somewhere you'd go on your honeymoon but this hotel ticked every box for us pair of seasoned travellers. I'd recommend it for families and solo travellers and couples. I'd be happy shuffling around the Rattana in my flip flops for months.
Got to hotel, had booked a bungalow which was advertised as having a safe in the room. Once we checked in we were told that the safe was in the owners house and not in the room which is just ridiculous if you need to access your money and passports regularly.
The power points didn't work properly, bathroom was dirty & bed was rock hard!
Checked out within 2 hours.
After a flight from Bangkok we headed to Rattana Guesthouse on a cloudy afternoon (boo!), but once we had arrived we knew we had found a great place to stay. The rooms were spacious with amazing AC to keep that Thai heat at bay. I thoroughly enjoyed the balcony that faced the pool as well, an unexpected addition. The food was nice too, we ate there a few times (mainly Pad Thai's). This place is situation about 2 minutes from Chaweng Beach which was lovely and close to all the nightlife. Would stay again.
Stayed only one night but accommodations were fine, the ac was super powerful which was like heaven. Holes in the bathroom, but the staff was very friendly and breakfast was good. Close to the road and the beach, but enough greenery around you could forget all that if you wanted to.
