“Great place turned into a terrible one.”
Reviewed September 29, 2012

Used to go to the islander every year when visiting Samui. But since the management change things have changed for the worse. Food is poor, especially the western food. Try to stick to the thai food and eat it at your own risk. I really regret things having changed that much since the former manager Dave left. It used to be a place with good food, friendly staff and most important a great management team. The food and service is not what it used to be and the new English manager Damian Wade doesn't seem to care to much about it. Forget about complaining to him it won't change a thing. Really to bad what is happening to the place. I really regret the former manager Dave having gone his own way. So my suggestion is leave the place for what it is and go to one of the other great pubs/restaurants in Chaweng.

“Great Pub,Great Location”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

Visited the Islander a couple of times whilst in Samui. We never ate here though. The staff in the pub were really friendly and always quick to serve you, especially Anne behind the bar. She doesnt take any money off you when you get your drinks she just waits until you have finished and are ready to leave, her accounting proceedure is great.
What more can you ask for, a lively atmosphere with a lot of tourists, ex pats all enjoying themselves in a very cheap and cheerful place. I think this was the cheapest place we visited for drinks, when you think of a Sigha beer and a Smirnoff ice for less than £3.50 this was great value. No wonder the place is always busy, that and the live sports that are showing all the time. We spoke to the manager Brendan?? who said it was the quiet season but it gets even busier. He also said that they open at 8am for breakfast and then its open all the way through until 2am, no wonder hes been there for four years he loves it and so do the tourists. Keep up the good work Brendan who knows you might get to spend some of your wages soon.

“My go to place”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

Ate here 5 times while we stayed in Chaweng. They had a special going 150 baht for a Hamburger with fries and a free beer. Cant beat it. For dinner, 100-150 baht plates of food. I recommend the Pad Thai, with Prawns. This place had good food, good service, and atmosphere. You can also order to go.

“Great Food and Sports”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

Great place to eat and watch sports, right in the middle of Chaweng but still sensibly priced. Great food and pub atmosphere, good service and cold beers! Went many times, Would recommend
