I have stayed here for a few times and I always enjoy it. The rooms facing the mountains are the best but they only have them in twin beds. The rooms are super clean and modern with new furniture, very nice sheets and shower. For this price range is a good deal. Also is just a cross the street from the beach. There is not elevetor so if you have big luggage that may be a problem, however they offer the belt boy to help. Another negative is that you have to pay for the Internet witch is non sense about 3 dlls an hour, most hotels and even simple restaurants offer it for free. At any case I would stay here again for one or two nights.

We stayed at the Chaweng Budget hotel on the 9th to 11th February 2012 and paid £49 for the two nights. We had come from Bangkok on the night bus so were thrilled when we were able to check in 2.5 hours early. Our room was great, spacious with a comfy bed and good shower in the bathroom. We loved that we had a DVD player as we could watch our pirate DVD's when we were getting ready. We also had a fridge and the air con was excellent; so all in all everything you need for a comfy stay. The staff were friendly and helpful and we felt safe and secure during our stay. An added bonus for this hotel is the use of the pool across the road, which was heavenly in the immense heat. We had a great time in Samui and our highlights were the elephant trekking where we rode Victoria (massive), our guide took so many photos and was brilliant and entertaining. We also ate at the Orchid which is on Trip Adviser and was absolutely delicious. If you come out of the Chaweng budget go left and cross the road and the Orchid is there after a 10 min approx walk. It is sign posted so you can't miss it.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel, the great thing was that you had use of all the facilities in the sister hotel across the street which had a nice pool, bar restaurant and was on the beach, an that was $200+ a night, only down side was that we had to pay for iternet, but it wasn't expensive.
TIP: Get a room at the back as the road at the front is busy.

Room Tip: Get a room at the back as the front could be noisy

I stayed at the Chaweng Budget with my boyfriend for 4 nights in early September, and it was fantastic for a budget hotel. The room was lovely, modern and very clean, with aircon and a tv/dvd player. The staff were friendly and helpful, so I can't understand the recent negative reviews about them! The best thing about this hotel is that you get to use the facilities of the main (more luxurious) resort across the road- the pool, sunloungers on the beach etc, which was way more than we expected for the price. There's also a buffet breakfast included. The only fault I could find is that it is bit of a walk to the majority of the bars and restaurants in Chaweng.
This was the best hotel we stayed in in Thailand for a bit of luxury on a budget, I'd recommend it to anyone!

In August I arrived together with my girlfriend at Samui. We already booked 5 nights at Chaweng Budget. The driver, a nice and friendly guy picked us up and drove us to the Budget Hotel. From the outside it looked very nice, but then we went inside and the woman at the reception was very unfriendly, the unfriendliest person I ever met in Thailand. Happily the other man at the reception was friendly. He showed us the room(no. 205) but this was a disaster! The window was damaged(you couldn't close it completely), there were a lot of white bugs on the wood(table, cupboard...) in the room, the bed was the hardest bed I ever slept on and the bathroom was smelly and the curtains were dirty with yellow points. We were thinking about what to do now, because we already paid the deposit(happily not the full amount), so we looked at the rooms at the Resotel(same owner), but the offered rooms were quite dirty and overpriced too, so we decided to leave(which was the best decision in our situation, even if it's hard to loose 1800 baht if you are on a budget). But happily we found a nice and even a bit cheaper hotel which is called "Samui Ocean Hotel". It is clean, nice and the people are much friendlier and don't just want our money. In Chaweng Budget The rooms are not what we expected by seeing the photos on the internet. I travelled all around Southeastasia always in cheap hotels(most were even cheaper) and this was by far the worst resort. It would be okay if the hotel is very simple, but it's dirty, there are bugs and for what you get it's overpriced. So stay in another hotel, there are a lot of it in Chaweng. They are cheaper and better. I would recommend "Samui Ocean Hotel", but I think any hotel in Chaweng is better than this nightmare!
