“Quiet and relaxing. Beautiful hotel”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

We had a lovely time at Sareeraya. Only thing i could fault on was service and the fact a large majority of the staff struggled with english making ordering room service, checking in and out harder than it should be. We got a room with direct entry into a pool but we prefered going out to the main one as our patio didnt get much sun and the water was freezing. The main pool was great and had an amazing view of the beach! Breakfast is right on the beach and buffet is really good!

Dear pjlon,

Thank you for your feedback on your recent stay here at the Sareeraya Villas & Suites. We are glad to hear you had a quiet and relaxing time with us and that you found our swimming pool and buffet breakfast fantastic. Please note that the fluency of English is one of the most important factors when we recruit new staff, but as English is not their native language it may be sometimes difficult for them to express themselves and accustom to the different accents of our guests.

Nevertheless, thank you again for staying with us and we hope to welcome you back in the near future!

Stayed here for 5 nights, wonderful resort. I stayed with my family and shared a room with my sister. Our room was incredibly spacious, the bathroom was massive too! The shower had a bathtub and a rainfall shower. The bathroom mirror and vanity counter was big enough for two people to get ready at once as well. The 'tech' inside the room was pretty advanced although some would say dated. You could control the whole room from a single electronic panel. The BEST part was you could walk out from your room into a shared pool between 5 rooms. The pool was public but you had your own private section and loungers. There was a door that opened to connect you if you were sharing rooms to. Pool was not heated.

The hotel itself is very boutique. It had running water throughout the whole place and an infinity edge pool that looked out onto the ocean. The pool had a swim up bar (that we never used, drinks were pricier there than on the beach). But there were loungers at the pool and on their own private section of the beach (Private meaning no hawkers could come on sell you stuff). Free towels and incredibly helpful staff, they were even more helpful if you tipped reasonably. Hotel was gorgeous overall, some might say that the hotel hasn't been maintained properly - but in the climate it's in it's held up incredibly well.

It's also in a great location. Just one spot down on the beach there are at least 3 massage parlours, 3 beach restaurants (which are a must try!) and a very short walk to 'the strip' where the markets and restaurants are.

I also went to the gym twice, it's across the street and modestly fitted. It has two treadmills, elliptical and a cables machine and a weight rack.

One of the things I enjoyed most were the breakfasts in the morning. We walked from our room to a side patio were they had a breakfast buffet set up. Omlette bar, pastries, smoothies, iced coffee..

Reading some other reviews, they said the pool was small. It's true the pool isn't that big. But we spent most/all of our time in the ocean. Also people complained about the noise since it was on the street. Noise is audible, but you'll only hear a loud motorbike once and a while, it wasn't an inconvenience and our room was one of the ones edging on the street. Also read the facilities were expensive, I did see the massages were priced x100 what the should've been but just go down the beach and you'll find a 300 bat/hr places. ALSO read that the bar was small, from our experience it seems that the bar wasn't even manned as they realize people would rather go to the beach.

Room Tip: Floors on the main floor have their own 'plunge' pool.

We absolutely loved this resort. The rooms are very up to date with flat screen, central light control panel, good AC & great lighting. Everything in the room was working and well thought out. We had a shared pool access room on the first floor, our view was our pool with a small garden and sala with 2 comfy loungers. The door on the balcony slid open so we could share the space with our kids in the next room - very good setup! The room backed right onto the street so you could hear some street noise but was never an issue for us.
Housekeeping was excellent, nightly turn-down service was superb with candies on the bed, lemongrass scent in the bathroom and a lit mosquito coil on the porch.
The reception and pool area with 2 bars were very quiet, which for us was perfect. The pool did have a few kids during the day but since there is no kids club here there weren't that many young kids. The pool and lounge area were superb with plenty of towels and lounge chairs.
The restaurant was superb right on beach edge. Breakfast buffet was nice and fresh with ample selection.
The beach was clean, a bit narrow but no problem getting a chair in the roped off private area. The public area was separated by a rope laid on the sand, so quite a few outside guests were able to use the beach. Plenty of hawkers not too pushy.
The local restaurants on the beach right next store were great for food and drink with lots of beach massage businesses setup, all good quality and value.
The staff were always pleasant and accommodating in every way. Tipping was always appreciated but never assumed.
I would return anytime to this resort! Thanks for a great Christmas holiday to everyone at the Sareeraya!!

Room Tip: Semi-private pool was great. If you want a sea view pick the 3rd floor but you won't have the po...

Yes, there are many places that are cheaper, Thailand is cheap, but this place is nice and the food is far better than the other places in the area. We had a room on the main floor with a plunge pool in front of our deck The breakfast buffet was fab, and ALL the staff were awesome & helpful & really made us feel at home. It was just what we wanted, beautiful, comfortable and quiet (away from the party but close enough to walk there if you want it) I'd go back.

Room Tip: pick main floor with the plunge pool-you won't regret it

Hotel very expensive with very poor facilities. There are other hotels next to it much much better with lower prices. Swimming pool very small and always crowded. So many families with small children screaming and shouting all the time. We woke up everyday from the shouts. We complained at the reception since we went there to relax however they did nothing. We tried to be away from the hotel in order to enjoy our holidays and relax. Prices in food and drinks ridiculously high. Bar does not exist is just a small desk next to the reception. People played with a ball inside the swimming pool so we were hit with the ball several times. Others played rackets so it was very annoying. Hotel stuff did absolutely nothing. No respect for the guest and no environment to relax. Rooms are on the street so you could hear everything. Cars, people talking. Too much noise

Room Tip: Rooms are on the street so there is too much noise so prefer rooms in higher floors

Dear Vasia T,

Thank you for staying at the Sareeraya Villas & Suites on your recent visit to Koh Samui. We regret that you were left with such a negative impression of our hotel.

As we have previously mentioned, our hotel mostly caters to honeymooners and couples, as we do not have kids club on site or any other activities available for children. However, we still welcome all guests around the world and holiday seasons always tend to attract more families than usual. At the same time, we do expect parents and families to be mindful and respectful of others around them who are looking for a relaxing and peaceful experience. We are sorry that this was not the case for you.

We remember, you came to discuss with us regarding the noise and we offered to set-up sun loungers for you on a quieter spot on the beach. As you did not come back to us anymore with this issue, we assumed everything was fine.

Kindly note that we have 2 bars in the hotel, our swim up bar, Her Bar, which overlooks the ocean and the main swimming pool with comfortable lounges to relax in and enjoy a drink. Also, adjacent to our reception and library lounge, we have our Read Red Bar, presenting the guests with special selected sumptuous cocktails.

We do not compare our restaurant and bars with local eateries and bars as our facilities and services are on a different level, but we do regular competitor pricing checks with comparable hotels and resorts in Koh Samui to make sure we provide favorable prices. We also pay great attention to hygiene standards and food safety and therefore think that for what we offer and the facilities we have our prices are competitive.

Our hotel’s location is often described as peaceful and relaxing and we aim to offer an enjoyable environment for everyone. We are near to the center, yet away from the noise and the crowd, which is a great advantage to us and often praised by our guests. Of course, we understand that some guests are more noise sensitive than others and that perhaps Chaweng Beach was not the ideal place to stay for you.

Sareeraya is the first hotel we stayed during our recent visit to Koh Samui. We stayed at the Sareeraya suite jacuzzi pool access, the room was very spacious, with a lovely balcony by the pool.

We loved the breakfast by the beach and loved hanging out at the beautiful and clean beach and the pool. The drinks at their pool bar were very nice. We especially enjoyed sitting the pool while enjoying some drinks at dusk.

The only thing troubled me was the little black spots around the washing basin ( bacteria, maybe?? ) If they can improve the house keeping quality, there's nothing else I would complain about.

Stayed here for 14 nights in November 2013. This was our third trip to Koh Samui and also our honeymoon. We paid over AUS$4000 for a pool access room.

Positives: rooms are spacious and well decorated, Chubb security guys are wonderful, Bannaporn is the breakfast restaurant is friendly and helpful

Negatives: breakfast is very boring and not very nice (a lot of previous posts yet management don't seem to do anything as they think the food is fine), hot water comes and goes (none for first 5 days, had to shower with full hot and even then not hot) we did talk to them at least four times but were told they had fixed it so gave up

The major complaint we had was that this is not a large resort and pool is not big either and yet we had at least 15-20 children staying with most of them under 5 (stay and eat free). We had booked here as they market themselves as romantic, well I don't agree that kids running and screaming at breakfast, fighting, splashing, eating in pool, etc is a quiet and romantic holiday. We could not use the pool unless we wanted to compete with floating rafts, balls, etc and had to eat outside once for breakfast with people smoking next to us as the restaurant was too full.

If you have young children this resort would suit you but for a honeymoon, not really.

Won't be back.

Dear Greg_and_J0,

Thank you for staying with us during your recent visit to Koh Samui. We are glad you found our rooms spacious and well decorated and our staff friendly and helpful.

We regret our breakfast buffet did not fulfill your expectations and normally, our buffet line (which has actually received numerous compliments) offers a variety of breads, Danish and cakes, cereals, yogurts, fruits on season, salads, herb and fruit juices, smoothies, and Asian & Western dishes, many of them changing daily and cooked to order. If there was something you were unable to order, please do let us know and we can add it to our breakfast menu.

We are also sorry you felt our prices were on the high side, we do think that for what we offer and the facilities we have our prices are competitive and also in line with comparable hotels and resorts in our area.

However, holiday seasons always tend to attract more families than usual. We regret you did not feel our hotel was romantic in this regard and failed to meet your expectations.

Finally, please note that all your comments have been shared with the team to ensure that we all are aware of what standards we need to exceed and where we may need to improve.
